Gino and The Magic Morning Show

As far as the box office goes, The Lego Batman Movie, Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick: Chapter 2 came out ahead of newer titles, which tanked, when comparing ticket sales against their estimated combined production costs.

Of note: Universal/Legendary‘s The Great Wall had a global take of $265.6 million versus the estimated $150 million and $129 million it shelled out for production cost and P&A, Deadline reports.

  • For its opening weekend, The Great Wall brought in $18.1 million over three days and $21 million over four.
  • Universal overall though, is doing fairly well, commanding 35% of the weekend’s total ticket sales with Split, A Dog’s Purpose, Great Wall and Fifty Shades.
  • Warner Bros’ The Lego Batman Movie raked in $34.2 million over three days and $45 million over four.
  • Fifty Shades Darker brought in $21 million over three days, with a projected four-day take of $24.1 million.
