This Morning on the Magic Morning Show Pete Ellis stopped by to talk about the Curling Club and Upcoming events. Click below for the full interview.

MWV Curling Club along with the Ham Arena as part of the Town of Conway Winter Carnival will host a free curling experience. Yes that is right we said “FREE”. This is part of the Town of Conway Winter Carnival during their 250 year celebration on January 25th.

This is a Sunday morning so if you want to try one of the most popular Winter Olympic sports, we would be happy to give you a chance to try it out. Who knows you might win a shirt if you “throw a rock in the house”. Come at 9:00 AM to see how the ice is prepped and learn about the game some refer to as “chess on ice”. We plan to have people on the ice at 9:30 AM. Contact the club through the website www.mwvcurling.org or call Pete Ellis 603-367-3821
And if you want more or Sunday morning doesn’t work, we have another scheduled Saturday January 31 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Mount Washington Valley Curling Club “Curling Experience”

Saturday January 31

4 PM to 6:30 PM
Ever thought about trying curling? Want to see what all the excitement is about? Curious as to how hard it is to get a 42 lb. stone to travel 126’ to the “button”? Come to the 2015 Curling Experience at the Ham Arena and discover for yourself the answers. We look forward to meeting you and helping you try one of the fastest growing winter sports. Participants will learn firsthand how to “deliver” a stone to the “house”. Experienced trainers will teach you how to get that heavy hunk of granite from one end of the ice to the target area in 30 minutes or less. Learn how to “sweep” with special “brooms”. See what the game of “chess on ice” is all about.

What should I know before coming to curling event?
For all our events, we suggest you come dressed warmly in loose-fitting clothing and clean flat-soled shoes.  Athletic gear and sneakers are great; hat and gloves are also recommended.  Participants should feel comfortable walking on ice, and be asked to try the curlers’ delivery position, similar to a lunge stretch. All curling equipment necessary will be provided by the club. People of all ages may participate children under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants or their parents will sign waivers.

We can also accommodate those who may not be as flexible as they once were with “stick” curling. Don’t know what that is? Don’t worry, just come to the sessions and we’ll get you curling.

There is a nominal fee of $10 per person or $20 per family. Catch this fever we call CURLING, once you have the bug it’s hard to CURE it!

What if you really like it and want to learn more?

No problem, we have a learn to curl and a Newcomers Mini League to follow on Saturdays from 4 to 6:30 PM in February and March. Members of the Club will be on hand to explain all there is to know how you can become a member of the MWV Curling Club, how you can join the Saturday League and much more!
