Police Photo – James Guptill’s Hyundai Tucson was struck head on by a truck on Route 16 in Milton
Milton, NH – Two men were injured in a head on collision in Milton yesterday. New Hampshire State Police say that at around 3:45 yesterday afternoon 60-year-old Dennis Hartigan of Saugus Massachusetts was headed south on route 16 in Milton when he lost control of his Chevy Silverado and entered the northbound lane striking a Hyundai Tucson driven by 82-year-old James Guptill of East Wakefield, NH.
Hartigan and Guptill sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the Hospital for treatment. Both men were wearing their seatbelts.
The right travel lane was closed for 45 minutes and traffic was diverted off of exit #17, as officials investigated the accident. The roadway was beginning to form ice in some areas at the time of this accident. Traveling too fast for the existing road conditions on the part of Hartigan appears to be a possible contributing factor. However, all aspects are being investigated.
Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the Milton Police Department, the Farmington Police Department, the Milton Fire Department, the Rochester Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The accident remains under investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to contact the New Hampshire State Police Trooper Eric Call at (603) 223-8490.
