About CASA of New Hampshire:

CASA of New Hampshire recruits, trains and supervises volunteers across New Hampshire who are appointed by our Family Court Judges and serve in the role of a guardian ad litem. Their primary task is to bring to the attention of the court what is in the best interest of these children and youth, many of whom end up in our state foster care system as a result of the abuse or neglect suffered at the hand of their parents or primary caregivers.   Our CASA volunteers become a voice for these children and advocate in a complex child protection and court process.  CASA’s hang in there with these children until their parents’ cases are resolved in court and they can return to a safe loving home or be freed for adoption if parents cannot make the necessary corrective action.  Last year alone, CASA volunteers, now 500 individuals strong, represented 1,400 victims of abuse in New Hampshire.

About the Granite State Children’s Alliance:

The Granite State Children’s Alliance represents all Child Advocacy Centers (CAC’s) in NH and operates four CAC’s located in Manchester, Nashua, Laconia and Keene.  Child Advocacy Centers are community partnerships coordinating a collaborative systemic response to child abuse investigations and subsequent healing supports for child victims and their families. CAC’s are child/family friendly, trauma informed, victim centered, neutral settings for joint investigations and forensic interviews of child victims of crime involving sexual abuse, felony level physical abuse, and child witnesses to violence such as a homicide or a serious domestic assault. Child advocacy centers help break the cycle of child abuse and support victims on a path to healing.  Last year over 2,100 child victims of abuse were supported at CACs across NH.
