Janet Jackson will receive the Icon Award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. According to Rap-Up, Jackson will celebrate the occasion with her first televised performance in nine years. Billboard announced the award and performance via Twitter, writing, “_OVERRIDING SYSTEM// Janet Jackson [CONFIRMED] for #BBMAs Icon Award and First TV Performance in 9 years. 05.20 on NBC.” 

Past recipients of the Icon Award include Prince, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Cher and Neil Diamond.

  • The Billboard Music Awards will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson and will air live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 20th at 8 p.m.


Taylor Swift will be launching the reputation Stadium Tour tonight and in an update posted on Sunday, she showed off all the microphones she’ll use on tour.

The 28-year-old singer has seven microphones she’ll be using throughout the show, including one that is from her last tour and needs a bit of fixing.

Among the mics are the rose-gold one, a newspaper print one that says her name a bunch, a color variation on the newspaper print one, a regular gold one, a gold mic with a gold snake attacking it, and a sparkly green one like “St. Patrick’s Day at a disco.”

G-Eazy has broken his silence following his assault and cocaine arrest in Sweden. The “No Limit” rapper took to Instagram to apologize and express that he is embarrassed about the situation. He said, “Grateful & blessed to be free & safe. Happy to be in Copenhagen tonight doing what I love most. Embarrassed & apologetic beyond words about the incident, but above all I’m so f**king grateful they let me go, craziest experience of my life, awful night with a lot of bad luck and some even worse decisions but like I said I’m grateful as f**k to be a free man, back on tour performing for the fans. Thank you to everyone who’s held me down along the way and supported this journey, I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.” 

According to TMZ, the rapper was released from custody and was allowed the leave the country on Friday (May 4th). He was ordered to pay a $9,000 fine and restitution to the victim of the assault, which was a Stockholm nightclub bouncer. 

  • G-Eazy admitted to police that he purchased the drugs, but refused to provide the name of the person who sold it to him.


Celebs were in full effect last night (May 7th) at the Met Gala, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. According to MissInfo.tv, the event was presented by American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and co-hosted by Rihanna, human rights lawyer and wife of George Clooney, Amal Clooney and designer Donatella Versace. The theme for this year’s event was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” which received the official stamp of approval from the Vatican. Meanwhile, The Grio reports that the gala featured over 150 designer pieces and 50 garments and accessories loaned from the Vatican. 

Many A-list stars hit the carpet including Rihanna, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Solange Knowles, Diddy, Cassie, A$AP Ferg, Donald Glover, Mary J. Blige, SZA, Migos, Rita Ora, Lana Del Rey, Jaden Smith, Tracee Elis Ross, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott and more. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj were even spotted in a photo together. 

  • It’s worth noting that Beyoncé was not in attendance this year, while many members of the BeyHive were awaiting her photos to surface social media. 
  • Nicki Minaj also announced her new album on the carpet, which will be titled Queen and is scheduled to drop on June 15th.
