‘AQUAMAN’ SWIMS TO $67M VICTORY – (12/26/2018)

As expected, Aquaman emerged victorious at the box office this long weekend, taking an estimated $67 million.

Critics weren’t as enthused: Aquaman currently has a 64 on Rotten Tomatoes, but audience buzz is good. Aquaman earned an A- on CinemaScore. The film stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman, among others.

The House of Mouse released the Emily Blunt-toplined Mary Poppins Returns, bringing in $23 million and helping to push Disney past a domestic annual gross of $3 billion for the second time in three years, the only studio to reach that park. Observers predict Mary Poppins will have long legs; critics approved, giving the movie a 77, and audiences agreed, with an A- on CinemaScore
