BIG MACHINE RELEASING TAYLOR SWIFT’S EARLY SINGLES ON LIMITED-EDITION VINYL; TAYLOR HEADLINES AMAZON PRIME CONCERT – (07/12/2019)

Taylor Swift’s former record label is offering fans limited-edition vinyl singles to celebrate the 13th anniversary of her debut album this fall.

As previously reported, Scooter Braun – who Taylor has accused of bullying her and trying to “dismantle” her career – bought her former label, Big Machine, last month, giving him control over her back catalog. But a rep for the label tells Billboard that plans were in the works to sell the singles long before the June 30th announcement of Braun’s purchase.

The first vinyl single, “Tim McGraw,” sold out after being announced June 20th. The latest, offered to fans Wednesday, is “Teardrops on My Guitar.” The $10 single features the original song, as well as an acoustic performance from 2007. It’s set to ship August 30th.

Three more songs will be released in the near future, according to Billboard, but there are no plans to reissue her self-titled 2006 debut album.

Swift left Big Machine in November, signing a new global deal with Universal Music Group. Lover, her first album under the new deal, comes out August 23rd.

In other news, Swift has landed the No. 1 spot on Forbes’ 2019 Celebrity 100 List, which ranks the world’s highest-paid entertainers in music, sports and entertainment. The magazine reports that 29-year-old Swift earned a pretax income of $185 million over the past year, her biggest earnings total yet.

TAYLOR SWIFT, DUA LIPA, BECKY G & SZA’S PERFORM AT PRIME DAY CONCERT – (07/12/2019)

Taylor Swift headlined Wednesday night’s Amazon Prime Day concert.

Amazon Prime members watched it live stream from New York City – a first-of-its-kind event for Amazon to promote next week’s annual Amazon Prime day, which this year takes place over 48 hours.

Hosted by Jane Lynch, the concert opened with five-song sets by Dua Lipa, followed by Becky G and SZA. Each set was book-ended with pitches for Amazon products, including the Alexa smart assistant and their music streaming service, as well as commercials for current and forthcoming Amazon original shows, including first looks at the new series Modern Love and Carnival Row.

Taylor didn’t take the stage until well after 11:00 p.m. [ET] and opened her set with “ME!,” from her forthcoming Lover album, before delivering eight more back-to-back hits. Most of the songs in Taylor’s set came from her 2014 album, 1989: “Blank Space,” “Welcome to New York,” “Style” and “Shake It Off.” She also performed one song each from 2017’s Reputation, 2012’s Red, and her second album, 2008’s Fearless – “Delicate,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Love Story,” respectively.

She also performed “You Need to Calm Down” – also from her forthcoming Lover album, due out August 23rd. It was Taylor’s first-ever live performance of the song. She closed out the show with “Shake It Off.” The crowd enthusiastically shouted along to the bridge: “Just think, while you’ve been getting down and out about the liars and the dirty, dirty cheats in the world, you could have been getting down to this sick beat.”

The concert is still available on Amazon, where you watch it if you’re a Prime member of if you sign up for a 30-day free trial.

ROYAL RED CARPET AT ‘LION KING’ AS HARRY AND MEGHAN CALLED OUT FOR SOCIAL MEDIA HYPOCRISY – (07/12/2019)

Suits alum Meghan Markle graced many red carpets in Hollywood, but she is about to walk her first as a royal. Meghan and Prince Harry are set to make their first royal red carpet appearance together on Sunday evening for The Lion King in London.

The new parents will leave baby Archie at home, according to reports. The Lion King is set to take its live-action bow in London’s West End. Harry will be there in part to promote his conservation work on behalf of communities near endangered wildlife in Africa. The remake of the Disney classic stars Beyoncé as the voice of Nala and Donald Glover as the voice of Simba. Harry and Meghan will reportedly meet some of the cast and crew, and mingle with representatives from organizations behind conservation efforts, before they all watch the film together.

In a few months, Harry, Meghan and Archie will leave for a tour of South Africa, where they will promote conservation and education initiatives.

SOCIAL MEDIA CRITICISM

Meanwhile, critics are hitting back at the royals for speaking out against social media, but then also having an Instagram account, @SussexRoyal.

One commentator told Sky News: “So we had Prince Harry telling a young audience ‘stay away from social media, it can damage your mental health, please live lives in balance and stop worrying about how you look.'” She added, “Literally the very next day they launched their Instagram account. So I think there’s a little bit of management perhaps that needs to be improved.”

BILLIE EILISH RECRUITS JUSTIN BIEBER FOR NEW VERSION OF ‘BAD GUY’: Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber are collaborating. Bieber hopped on a remix of Eilish’s hit single “Bad Guy,” yesterday. “Gold teeth, my neck, my wrist is froze / I got more ice than, than the snow / That guy, don’t act like you don’t know / That guy, so critical,” Justin sings on his new version of the song. Earlier this week, Bieber tweeted the word “Remix,” which was then retweeted by Eilish’s collaborator and brother, Finneas. The Bieber version of “bad guy” is available now for digital download. The single cover features a photo of a younger Billie with photos of Justin adorning her room. The original “Bad Guy,” which currently sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, appears on Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Eilish is a huge Justin Bieber fan, and the pair finally met at Coachella earlier this year.
