JUSTIN BIEBER ACCUSED BY FIONA APPLE OF ‘GAMING THE SYSTEM’ – (01/24/2020)

In a new interview with Vulture, Fiona Apple accused Justin Bieber of “gaming the system” to get his song up the charts. She said, “I feel terrible that anybody would want to be #1 as badly as Justin Bieber wants to be #1.”

For her upcoming album, she says she doesn’t plan to do what she called a “crazy amount of promo” and questioned how the music industry got to this point. She commented, “The climate of art and the music industry is so ridiculous” and went on to compared it to a video game with artists now “checking their scores.” to see who’s made it to the top of the charts.

Her comments were in reference to the fact that Justin Bieber had asked fans to use manipulative streaming and purchasing practices on social media. His post, that went viral, suggested that international fans use a VPN (virtual private network) to make it seem as though they were listening to the song from America.

The U.S. is the only country that the Billboard Hot 100 chart takes into consideration for chart placement. The post also suggested that fans listen to the music with ads and on repeat at a low volume even while they are sleeping. All as an effort to race the song up the chart.

In the end, Bieber’s song “Yummy,” peaked at #2 on that chart.

FANS FREAK WHEN THEY DISCOVER JAMES CORDEN DOESN’T DRIVE IN ‘CAROOL’ – (01/24/2020)

A Twitter user posted a video of James Corden riding around with Justin Bieber for an upcoming episode of The Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke, and fans are freaking the heck out.

As it turns out, Corden isn’t actually … driving … in the segment. Instead, his car is being pulled by a truck.

Tweetstorms have been erupting ever since. “Saw James Corden and Justin Bieber filming Carpool Karaoke and this is why I have trust issues—he isn’t even driving!” the Twitter user, @ZoliHonig, wrote on the social network, later adding: “Next thing you know they gonna tell us that his friends don’t *actually* need a ride.”

“It should be called Carpull Karaoke,” one social media user tweeted.

“MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE,” added another.

HALSEY CALLED OUT FOR NEGATIVE SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENT – (01/24/2020)

Halsey is apologizing tor tweeting a response to a Pitchfork review of her new album. The review states that “she isn’t quite the radical she thinks she is” and that “too much of the album sounds like the amorphous pop star you might associate with a miserable Lyft ride.”

In response, on Thursday (1-23) she tweeted: “Can the basement that they run pitchfork out of just collapse already.” Afterwards, someone pointed out the address of the magazine as One World Trade Center, in New York City. She quickly deleted the message and re-tweeted.

Halsey then clarified that the original tweet was a total misunderstanding and that she had no idea where the website’s office was located. Her re-post read: “ABSOLUTELY deleted it upon realizing this. Was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm. Just figured I could poke at them back with the same aloof passive aggression they poke at artists with! Clearly a misunderstanding ❤️”
