Man Arrested For Bridgton Robbery

THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS A 26-YEAR-OLD BRIDGTON MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY HELD UP THE RITE AID PHARMACY OFF ROUTE 302 IN NAPLES MONDAY NIGHT.

CAPT. CRAIG SMITH SAYS ANTHONY G. MATTIA OF WAYSIDE DR. WAS PULLED OVER BY DEPUTY RAYMOND MCINTIRE ON ROUTE 11 IN CASCO LESS THAN 10 MINUTES AFTER POLICE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE ROBBERY SHORTLY BEFORE 7:30 P.M.

SMITH SAYS A MAN HAD ENTERED THE STORE AND PRESENTED A NOTE DEMANDING PRESCRIPTION NARCOTICS BEFORE LEAVING WITH THE DRUGS. NO WEAPON WAS SHOWN AND NO ONE WAS HURT.

SMITH SAYS SOME STOLEN ITEMS AND CLOTHING WORN DURING THE ROBBERY HAVE BEEN RECOVERED.

MATTIA IS CHARGED WITH ROBBERY, FALSIFYING PHYSICAL EVIDENCE AND VIOLATIONS OF CONDITIONS OF RELEASE – AT THE TIME HE ALLEGEDLY COMMITTED THE CRIME HE WAS OUT ON BAIL FOR RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY, A GUN.

A JUDGE SET BAIL FOR MATTIA AT $20,000 CASH BAIL AND HE IS BEING HELD AT THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY JAIL.
