North Conway Village Fire

TWO JUVENILES HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH FELONY ARSON IN CONNECTION WITH WEDNESDAY NIGHT’S FIRE IN NORTH CONWAY VILLAGE.

PAT PREECE SAYS HIS FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED SHORTLY AFTER 7:20 P.M. TO JOE JONES SUN AND* *SKI SPORTS ON ROUTE 16.

ON ARRIVAL, THE CHIEF SAYS THERE WAS FIRE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING THAT WAS GOING UP THE OUTSIDE WALL AND THE BUILDING WAS FULL OF SMOKE.

FIREFIGHTERS FROM CONWAY, BARTLETT AND REDSTONE ASSISTED – AS DID NORTH CONWAY AMBULANCE. NO ONE WAS HURT AND THE FIRE WAS BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL ABOUT 8:15 P.M. – AND FULLY EXTINGUISHED AROUND AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER.

THE STORE WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. PREECE SAYS THE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING IS NOT TOO BAD BUT THERE IS HEAVY SMOKE DAMAGE TO THE INVENTORY.
