Local Veteran’s Day Observances

NORTH CONWAY AMERICAN LEGION POST 95 AND CONWAY AMERICAN LEGION POST 46 ARE TEAMING UP FOR VETERANS DAY EVENTS SUNDAY.

A CHURCH SERVICE OPEN TO ALL WILL BE HELD AT 10 A.M. AT THE FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST, CONGREGATIONAL ON ROUTE 16 IN NORTH CONWAY, WITH THE REVEREND GIL HEALY, AN AIR FORCE VETERAN, OFFICIATING.

THE CHURCH BELLS WILL RING AT 11 A.M. TO RECOGNIZE THE ARMISTICE ON THE 11^TH HOUR OF THE 11^TH DAY OF THE 11^TH MONTH.

THE PARADE WILL START FROM THE PARKING LOT OF THE JOHN FULLER SCHOOL IN NORTH CONWAY AROUND NOON AND PROCEED DOWN MAIN STREET TO SCHOULER PARK. THE COLOR GUARD FROM POST 95 WILL BE THE FIRST UNIT AND WILL BE FOLLOWED WITH COLORS DISPLAYED FROM VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS. WALKING AND RIDING VETERANS WILL BE FOLLOWED BY THE KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND AND OTHER GROUPS LIKE THE GIRL SCOUTS AND BOY SCOUTS.

THE PARADE WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A CEREMONY AT SCHOULER PARK THAT WILL INCLUDE PRAYERS, THE BURNING OF RECORDS, FLAG FOLDING AND 21-GUN SALUTE.

FOLLOWING THAT CEREMONY, WREATHS WILL BE PLACED AT KENNETT MIDDLE SCHOOL AND KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL.

A LUNCH FOR VETERANS WILL THEN BE HELD AT THE MINERAL SPRINGS CAFÉ AT KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL.

VFW POST 8270 AND LADIES AUXILIARY WILL HOST A SUPPER, SILENT AUCTION, RAFFLE AND MUSIC AT THE WHITE LAKE INN AND TAVERN IN TAMWORTH STARTING SUNDAY AT 4 P.M. THE COST IS $10 FOR ADULTS, $5 FOR CHILDREN 9 AND UNDER. THE EVENT BENEFITS VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. THE POST IS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS.
