Angus Jones Speaks Out Against 2 1/2 Men
It would appear that Angus T. Jones from Two and a Half Men has no problem biting the hand that feeds him. In a video for the Forerunner Chronicles, a Christian group, the 19-year-old actor calls the show ‘filth’ and urges his fans not to watch.
- He also spends a great deal of time in the video explaining how he came to be affiliated with the organization.
- Angus earns around $350,000 per episode and has played Jake since 2003.
- Warner Bros. Television has not commented on Jones’ criticism.
- Charlie Sheen and a former showrunner also made comments that got them in hot water before leaving the show.
Blue Light Will Keep You Awake As Well As Coffee
French and Swedish researchers have found that exposure to blue light may improve alertness in night drivers as much as a cup of coffee can. Exposure to blue light is known to stop the secretion of melatonin, the hormone that causes sleepiness, into the body. Researchers had a group of volunteers drive at night three different nights. During each of the nights the volunteers were given coffee, or were exposed to continuous blue light. Researchers found that drinking caffeinated coffee and exposure to blue light both improved driving alertness about the same amount. (Daily Mail)
Retiring Minnesota Man Leaves His Grocery Stores to Employees
A 70-year-old Minnesota man who owns two grocery stores in the state and one in North Dakota and is retiring is leaving those businesses to his approximately 400 employees instead of selling them to the highest bidder. The employees will take part in an employee stock ownership program, getting shares of Leuken’s Village Foods based on their length of service and salary and at no cost to them. Explaining his decision, Joe Lueken said, “My employees are largely responsible for any success I’ve had, and they deserve to get some of the benefits of that. You can’t always take. You also have to give back.” Lueken said he’s received a lot of lucrative offers for his business, but he and his family realize what the supermarkets do for the community, and they believe this will be a better deal for them and their community.
Anna Nicole Smith’s Six-Year-Old Daughter Appearing in New Guess Kids Ads
Anna Nicole Smith’s six-year-old daughter is following in her late mother’s footsteps as a Guess model. Dannielynn Birkhead is appearing in the spring ad campaign for Guess Kids, in shots including one that shows her posing on a beach in a denim mini-skirt, white-denim vest, graphic T-shirt and fedora, and a more contemplative black-and-white shot that shows her leaning on a wooden post. Guess creative director Paul Marciano said in a statement that Dannielyn — who’s being raised by her father, Larry Birkhead — has the, quote, “same playful spirit” that her mother would bring with her on the set. Guess hired Anna Nicole in 1992 for its sexy denim ads as a relative modeling unknown, although she’d appeared earlier that year on the cover of Playboy. Smith died in 2007.
