New Hampshire State Police Arrest Pair On “Theft Spree”

NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE SAY TWO 22-YEAR-OLD MEN ALLEGEDLY EMBARKED ON A “SPREE OF THEFTS” FROM VEHICLES IN MAINE THAT ENDED WHEN THEY WERE ARRESTED EARLY THURSDAY MORNING IN A STOLEN VAN IN MADISON.

TROOPER KEMPES CORBALLY OF TROOP E IN TAMWORTH SAYS RANDY MOOERS OF TAMWORTH AND MICHAEL-ALAN POWELL OF BIDDEFORD, MAINE WERE PASSENGERS IN A 2010 FORD PASSENGER VAN AND ONE OF THEM WAS REPORTED BY A CONVENIENCE STORE CLERK IN OSSIPEE AS HAVING ALLEGEDLY STOLEN SOMETHING FROM THE STORE.

TROOPERS DETERMINED THE VAN HAD BEEN STOLEN FROM MAINE AND AS THEY CAUGHT UP WITH IT AND PULLED IT OVER AROUND 4:30 A.M.)THURSDAY ON ROUTE 16, THE DRIVER ESCAPED INTO THE WOODS, LEAVING MOOERS AND POWELL INSIDE – AND THEY WERE ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

MAINE AUTHORITIES ARE HELPING IDENTIFY THE MISSING DRIVER AND CORBALLY SAYS THE TRIO WILL LIKELY FACE CHARGES IN MAINE AS WELL.

MOOERS IS CHARGED WITH RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY – A FELONY – AND THEFT AND POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED DRUGS. POWELL IS CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY – ONE OF THEM A FELONY – AND POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED DRUGS.

TROOPERS WERE ASSISTED BY POLICE DEPARTMENTS FROM CONWAY, OSSIPEE AND BIDDEFORD, MAINE.

MOOERS AND POWELL ARE DUE BACK IN COURT NEXT DEC. 17, 2012.
