EVA MENDES INKS DEAL FOR CLOTHING LINE: Eva Mendes has signed a deal with New York & Co. to launch a subbrand of clothing and accessories. Greg Scott, CEO of New York & Co., said in a statement, “When we asked our customers to name the celebrity they aspired to be, Eva’s name came up again and again. Based on that, we went out and pursued her. It was a very long courtship.”
WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA EAST TO HONOR NORA EPHRON: The Writers Guild of America East has announced plans to pay tribute to the late Nora Ephron at its award show on February 17th. Over the span of her career, Ephron was nominated for several WGA awards for her work on films like Silkwood, When Harry Met Sally…, Sleepless In Seattle, and Julie & Julia but never won.
Steve Martin has become a father for the first time. The NY Post reports that Martin and his wife Anne Stringfield quietly welcomed a child back in December and have somehow managed to keep it a secret until now.
A source told Page Six, “They’ve had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows. Steve’s very private. They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby.” A rep for Martin confirmed the news to People after the couple had been spotted near their L.A. home with a baby in tow.

UK’s Advertising Standards Authority thinks Keira Knightley’s new Chanel perfume commercial is a bit too sexy for children. The Huffington Post is reporting that the agency received a complaint after the ad aired during a broadcast of Ice Age 2.
The advertisement for Coco Mademoiselle features Keira stripping down and sharing some intimate moments with a photographer. The ASA has ruled that the ad can no longer run during children’s programming.
- Chanel released a statement saying the commercial was supposed to reflect the spirit of “being a strong, independent woman” in addition to pointing out that there is no nudity or even implied nudity in the ad.
