Transformers star Shia LaBeouf has gone public with emails that explain why he suddenly dropped out of Broadway’s Orphans only weeks before he was set to make his stage debut. Shia tweeted a series of screenshots of email exchanges between himself and director Daniel Sullivan, Alec Baldwin, and playwright Lyle Kessler.
One of the emails references some sort of argument that went down between Shia and Baldwin. LaBeouf apologizes for his part of the “dis-agreeable situation” to which Sullivan responds, “I’m too old for disagreeable situations. you’re one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. you are who you are. you two are incompatible. i should have known it. this one will haunt me. you tried to warn me. you said you were a different breed. i didn’t get it.”
In another message, Alec writes, “I’ve been through this before. It’s been a while. And perhaps some of the particulars are different. But it comes down to the fact that what we all do now is critical. Perhaps especially for you. When the change comes, how do we handle it, whether it be good or bad? What do we learn?” The actors go on to assure each other that they don’t have anything bad to say about the other.
- Gawker has uncovered that one of Shia’s e-mails which contains a lengthy apology from him was actually lifted almost entirely from an old Esquire article called What Is A Man? by Tom Chiarella.
- The revival of Orphans begins previews on March 19th. Six Feet Under actor Ben Foster has been tapped to replace Shia.
A woman named Lorrie Arias who appeared on the Fox reality show The Swan back in 2005 is blaming the show for ruining her life. The 42-year-old claims her appearance on the show where she underwent over $300,000 worth of plastic surgery procedures has sent also her into hiding.
Arias told the NY Post, “I am agoraphobic, on meds and unable to enjoy life. I had the most surgeries of any Swan in the history of the show and it has all gone to absolute sh-t. I am a 300-pound mess of a person who is afraid to go outside.” Lorrie also said she now suffers from bipolar disorder, lupus, and depression and blames her issues on the lack of follow-up treatment from the show’s therapists.
- The newspaper also followed up with other women who participated on the show and all but two former contestants are either divorced or widowed.
- Season 1 winner Rachel Love reacted to the accusations calling the other girls “crybabies” and saying, “Some of the girls have had problems with their surgeries, and I would have thought the producers would have helped a little more with that, but what can you expect from them? Reality shows aren’t there to guide you for the rest of your life.”
- There is a celebrity edition of The Swan scheduled to air this summer as a two-hour special with Monica Lewinsky and Happy Days star Erin Moran rumored to be cast members.
