ABIGAIL BRESLIN SIGNS ONTO NEW THRILLER: Abigail Breslin has signed on to star in a new thriller called Peste which is currently being shopped around at Cannes. The film is about a virus that sweeps through a small town and will be directed by House at the End of the Street’s Mark Ponderai.
‘ANGRY BIRDS’ MOVIE TO HIT THEATERS IN 2016: Sony has announced plans to bring a film version of Angry Birds to the big screen on July 1st, 2016. The movie will be based on the game that has been downloaded 1.7 billion times and will be produced by the people behind Despicable Me and Iron Man.
MELISSA JOAN HART CANCELS KICKSTARTER: Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart was forced to end the Kickstarter campaign for her film Darci’s Walk of Shame due to lack of interest. Hart aimed to raise $2 million for the film but only managed to rake in $51,000 before calling off the fundraising efforts.
‘INTO THE WOODS’ AUDITIONS FOR THE TWO PRINCES: Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine reportedly auditioned to play the roles of the princes in the upcoming film version of Into the Woods being directed by Rob Marshall. Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and James Corden are already attached to the project.
NICOLAS CAGE TO STAR IN ‘HOTEL 33’: Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in a new horror thriller called Hotel 33 based on a real-life case where 32 people disappeared from the Williamsport’s Grand Hotel in Pennsylvania on opening night. Writer Kellie Madison will also direct the film.
BEN AFFLECK TEAMING UP WITH TOMS SHOES: Argo director Ben Affleck is collaborating with Toms shoes to create a new limited-edition line made from textiles from the Congo. For every pair purchased, $5 will be donated toward Ben’s Eastern Congo Initiative in addition to Toms’ donation of sending a pair of shoes to a child in need.
CHLOE SEVIGNY DISCUSSES GWYNETH PALTROW’S REACTION TO THE MET GALA: Chloe Sevigny took a few moments on Tuesday night (May 14th) to discuss Gwyneth Paltrow’s negative feelings about the MET Gala with New York magazine. Chloe said, “Maybe her sleeves were too tight. If you’re in a dress where you can’t breathe, then you’re not comfortable. You have to wear comfortable shoes and an outfit you can be okay in. I think it depends on what table you’re at, and who you’re with, and obviously your attitude. But it’s a lot of hoopla over not a lot. BROOKE MUELLEER WANTS HER KIDS AWAY FROM DENISE RICHARDS: Despite being in rehab, Brooke Mueller reportedly wants her kids taken away from Denise Richards and put in the care of her brother so that she could continue to collect child support checks from Charlie Sheen. Sheen pays Brooke $55,000 a month to take care of their 4-year-old twins Bob and Max.
Brad Pitt On Angelina’s Battle
Following Angelina Jolie’s huge announcement on Tuesday (May14th) that she underwent a double mastectomy, her beau Brad Pitt has been chatting with the media about his future wife’s brave decision to go public about her fight to avoid becoming a cancer victim.
Brad told USA Today that it has been “an emotional and beautifully inspiring few months.” He added, “It’s such a wonderful relief to come through this and not have a spectre hanging over our heads…that that’s not going to be something that’s going to affect us. My most proudest thing is our family. This isn’t going to get that.”
- He explained, “She could have stayed absolutely private about it and I don’t think anyone would have been none the wiser with such good results. But it was really important to her to share the story and that others would understand it doesn’t have to be a scary thing. In fact, it can be an empowering thing, and something that makes you stronger and us stronger.”
- According to People, Angelina is also planning to have her ovaries removed to lower her cancer risk.
