Sopranos’ James Gandolfini Passes
Sopranos star James Gandolfini died yesterday from a heart attack. James was vacationing in Rome when he passed away. James and his son were attending the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily. The actor’s assistant, Tom Richardson, tells the NY Daily News, “When they got back to the hotel, Jimmy went to use the restroom. And something happened in there . . . . His sister said he was alive when they took him out in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.” Holsten’s, the Bloomfield, N.J. ice cream shop where the final scene of The Sopranos was filmed, was packed last night with Tony Sopranos fans. Fans also went to the Bada Bing club in Jersey. The club is named Satin Dolls.

Gandolfini grew up in Park Ridge New Jersey and graduated from Park Ridge High School in 1979.
He was awarded the title “Class Flirt” in his senior yearbook.
He held a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Rutgers University, where he worked as a bouncer at an on-campus pub.
The Sopranos debuted in 1999.
Gandolfini won three Emmys for “Best Actor in a Drama” for his depiction of mob boss Tony Soprano.
Gandolfini eventually earned $1,000,000 per episode in the series.
Entertainment Weekly listed him as the 42nd Greatest TV Icon of All Time.
In 2003, Gandolfini appeared in a series of television commercials, with Greg Schiano (coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights), promoting Rutgers football.
Gandolfini owned a Harley-Davidson; and also a Vespa scooter. On May 4, 2006, he was riding the Vespa in New York City traffic when it was hit by a taxi cab, resulting in knee surgery which postponed for three months the filming of the final Sopranos episodes.
On August 30, 2008, after two years of dating, Gandolfini married former model Deborah Lin in her hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Their daughter Liliana Ruth Gandolfini was born on October 10, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
PAULA DEEN QUESTIONED ON HER USE OF THE ‘N’ WORD: Celebrity chef Paula Deen recently gave a deposition for her lawsuit against a former employee who alleges that she was subjected to racist, sexist, and generally inappropriate comments at Paula’s Oyster House restaurant in Georgia. The disgruntled employee’s lawyer grilled Paula on her use of the “N” word throughout her life and while Deen did admit that she has used the word in the past, she insisted, “that’s just not a word that we use as time has gone on. Things have changed since the ’60s in the south. And my children and my brother object to that word being used in any cruel or mean behavior. As well as I do.”
JAMES FRANCO LIKES THE NEW SUPERMAN BUT STILL HATES THE NEW SPIDER-MAN: This Is The End star James Franco wrote an article for Vice.com about how much he enjoyed attending the London premiere of Man of Steel but spent much of the article bashing Sony for not waiting long enough to reboot the Spider-Man franchise. The former Green Goblin wrote, “I don’t really feel much distress over its being remade, for many reasons. But what is interesting to me is that it has been remade so quickly — and the reasons why. The answer is, of course, money.”
AMANDA BYNES IS LOOKING FORWARD TO HER SURGERIES: Hairspray actress Amanda Bynes may be in talks for an album with Wyclef Jean but it seems she is more interested in getting back to taking selfies. Amanda tweeted on Tuesday (June 18th,) “I can’t wait for my surgeries so I can start taking pictures!” Bynes recently revealed that she is in the process of undergoing several nose jobs after seeing how bad she looked in her mug shot last month.
KATE MIDDLETON WILL GIVE BIRTH IN THE SAME PLACE AS PRINCESS DIANA: Radar Online is reporting that Kate Middleton has decided to give birth to her baby in the same hospital where Princess Diana gave birth to William and Harry. The news was revealed in an official press conference held by William’s spokesman, Ed Perkins, who also revealed that the Queen’s former gynecologist, Doctor Marcus Setchell, will come out of retirement to supervise the birth.
‘HERE COMES HONEY BOO BOO’ SEASON PREMIERE WILL BE A WATCH-N-SNIFF EVENT: TLC has revealed that the July 17th premiere of the new season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will be a “Watch ‘n Sniff” event. Viewers can pick up cards in the People magazine hitting newsstands on July 5th or at their local Time Warner Cable retail store and will be asked to scratch the corresponding number as they appear on screen and then take a big whiff.
‘FIFTY SHADES OF GREY’ GETS A DIRECTOR: Sam Taylor-Johnson has been secured to direct the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey based on the script written by Kelly Marcel. Taylor-Johnson made her directorial debut in 2009 with Nowhere Boy — about the early life of John Lennon.
MARY JANE WATSON WILL NOT APPEAR IN ‘THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2′: Shailene Woodley’s scenes portraying Mary Jane Watson in Sony’s upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man have been cut from the film. Woodley explained to Entertainment Weekly, “Of course I’m bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason. MJ only appeared in a few scenes and I wouldn’t trade the experience of working with Andrew and Emma for three days on set for the world. Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing MJ until the next film.”
‘IRON MAN 3′ CROSSES THE $400 MILLION MARK DOMESTICALLY: Iron Man 3 has become Disney’s fifth movie to cross the $400 million mark at the domestic box office. The film has earned over $1.2 billion globally and is currently the fifth highest grossing movie of all time.
