Matthew Fox In World War Z
The World War Z that is currently in theaters is apparently a much different movie than what was originally filmed. All of the edits and reshoots resulted in a film that fans and critics appear to be enjoying but it also led to Matthew Fox’s role to be almost entirely cut from the film.
The Lost star has a tiny cameo in the final version of the film but he was actually supposed to be much more involved in the story. The 46-year-old described his character to Boston Common Magazine saying, “He’s a Navy SEAL who rescues Brad Pitt and his family off of a rooftop in Philadelphia. He ends up looking after his family amidst this chaos, while Brad Pitt’s character tries to find a solution to the zombie apocalypse. The movie is the setup for the possibility of a trilogy. My role would be more developed, I think, if there were to be more films. But I just was really excited to be a part of it in any way.”
- Only the scene where Matthew rescues Brad’s family in Philadelphia remains in the theatrical release of the film.
- Paramount is reportedly already working on a sequel as the movie continues to rake in big bucks at the box office. It earned over $100 million globally during its opening weekend.
