Paula Deen Attempts Damage Control
The past week hasn’t been so easy for celebrity chef Paula Deen but she attempted to turn things around for herself by sitting down to an interview on the Today show with Matt Lauer on Wednesday (June 26th.) Paula got emotional during the conversation while insisting that she is a loving person and that she is distressed by the way the n-word gets tossed around between members of the African-American community.
US Weekly is reporting that Paula has hired Judy Smith — the inspiration for Kerry Washington’s character on Scandal — to help her through this crisis. However, those close to Deen insist that even though the controversy may be costing her endorsement deals, her businesses are thriving.
- Shortly after Paula’s interview, Caesars casino company announced that they will be closing all four restaurants that operate on their properties as part of a business partnership with the chef.
- Walmart also released a statement on Wednesday afternoon saying, “We are ending our relationship with Paula Deen Enterprises and we will not place new orders beyond those already committed.”
