The Latest On The Passing Of Cory Monteith
The two days that have passed since the body of Glee star Cory Monteith was discovered in a Vancouver hotel room have been both heartbreaking and confusing as many news outlets are speculating on the cause of death and whether or not the actor’s battle with addiction played a part in his demise. As fans and fellow celebrities continue to mourn his passing, few official details have emerged and the toxicology results from Monday’s autopsy (July 15th) could take a few days to come in.
HollywoodLife.com is reporting that “numerous amounts of alcohol” and other substances were allegedly found in Cory’s hotel room. Photos have also surfaced which appear to show the recovering addict drinking with friends in the days leading up to his passing on Saturday (July 13th.) Fans have started shrines dedicated to Cory’s memory both at the Paramount lot where Glee is filmed as well as at the hotel where he had been staying when he died.
- Us Weekly is reporting that Cory had plans to move in with girlfriend Lea Michele after he returned from Vancouver. Although Lea released a statement asking for privacy as she mourns his passing, sources says she has been inconsolable since hearing the news and she has refused to eat.
- According to the LA Times, Cory played a criminal struggling with drug addiction in his final movie, McCanick, which he shot last September in Philadelphia.
- The Westboro Baptist Church announced on Sunday (July 14th) that they plan to picket Cory’s funeral. The official Twitter account of the church tweeted to Glee cast members saying, “Praise God Almighty” that Monteith was dead. One spokesperson for the group said they were “GLEE-ful over God’s righteous judgment.”
