Berlin Man Charged In Child Assault

THE BERLIN DAILY SUN SAYS A 43-YEAR-OLD BERLIN MAN FACES FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT CHARGE ALLEGING HE FRACTURED THE SKULL OF A 14-MONTH OLD CHILD SATURDAY.

THE SUN SAYS THE LITTLE BOY WAS TAKEN BY HELICOPTER TO MAINE MEDICAL CENTER IN PORTLAND, WHERE HE WAS LISTED IN “SATISFACTORY” CONDITION MONDAY.

THE SUN SAYS A COMPLAINT FILED IN BERLIN DISTRICT COURT ALLEGES RICHARD A. KOGUT OF YORK ST. “RECKLESSLY CAUSED SERIOUS BODILY INJURY BY STRIKING THE CHILD AGAINST A HARD SURFACE, AS TO CAUSE MULTIPLE FRACTURES TO THE CHILD’S SKULL.”

THE SUN SAYS THE ARREST AFFIDAVIT SHOWS BERLIN POLICE AND BERLIN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WERE CALLED TO AN APARTMENT AT 137 YORK STREET SATURDAY AROUND 7:30 P.M. FOR A REPORT OF AN INFANT THAT WAS IN AND OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS.
