A Canadian drummer set the world record for most drum strokes in one minute. Tom Grossert’s record is 1,208 strokes in 60 seconds. He broke the previous record by five drum strokes. (The Telegraph)
iPhone 5S Rumors
It’s the time of year rumors start about how Apple will update the iPhone. Industry analysts predict the iPhone 5S will have bigger changes than most incremental “S” upgrades usually have. In fact, they say two of the biggest possible changes– a bigger screen and the addition of a fingerprint scanner– could be delaying production. Other rumored upgrades include a 12-megapixel camera, a dual-LED flash and near-field communication, which allows the technology to operate virtual wallet apps. The upgrade is expected to come by September or at least by the end of the year. (UPI)
Who Wants a Twinkie?
Twinkies are back, and they’re flying off the store shelves, eight months after they disappeared with the bankruptcy of Hostess Brands. The company, under new ownership, says there is record demand for the super-sweet sponge cakes and for other Hostess varieties like its CupCakes. Sell-outs are reported in many stores, and new orders exceed capacity.
The Working Vacation
Americans are taking fewer days off than ever. And, a majority of them say they “check in” even when they are on vacation, responding to emails or calling into the office. A survey for the software company TeamViewer says that 61 percent of employed Americans will work during their vacation days in 2013. Last year, Americans took an average of 12 days off, two less than the previous year, according to a survey by the travel site Expedia.
