REESE WITHERSPOON BELIEVES KIDS LOOSENED HER UP: Reese Witherspoon appears in Elle’s Women in Hollywood November issue where she discusses the myth that people become less interesting when they have kids. The 37-year-old explained, “I just don’t think that’s true. I feel like I was so confused before I had kids, I almost got in my own way. Having kids made me clearer about who I was as a woman. I just wanted to exhibit good qualities for my daughter. I was a little competitive before I had kids — probably really competitive, to be honest. It really made me let go of that.”
REBEL WILSON CURVES MAKE HER STAND OUT: Super Fun Night star Rebel Wilson believes her curvy figure makes her more interesting than the all-too-common pretty girls who arrive in L.A. to act. The 27-year-old told In Touch magazine, “I think most girls who are encouraged to come to LA and become actresses are usually the prettiest girls in their hometown of Iowa or wherever. So not looking like anyone else has made things easier for me, because I’m distinctive. There are so many glamorous actresses — but in the real world, nobody looks like that.” She goes on to say, “I want to inspire girls who don’t think they’re cool or pretty. To do that, I need to put out a realistic version of what it’s like to be a girl who looks like me. Sometimes that means getting broken up with by a dude who says, ‘You’re too fat.’ That way, when my character wins, it’s gratifying.”
MICHAEL FASSBENDER AND BRAD PITT ARE BUDDIES: After co-starring in 2009’s Inglorious Basterds and now again in 12 Years a Slave, it seems that Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt have built a pretty solid friendship. I have a lot of reasons to thank him. He has always been a real champion for me. After we first worked together, he was talking to a lot of people in Hollywood about me, and I really thank him for doing that. Brad not only supported me, but he also encouraged and helped other young talent. He is one of those guys that we need in the industry.”

LENA DUNHAM FIGHTS OCD WITH MEDITATION: Emmy-winning Girls creator Lena Dunham revealed that she has been practicing meditation since she was nine years old to fight off her obsessive compulsive disorder. The 27-year-old spoke at a panel discussion hosted by The David Lynch Foundation saying, “When I was around nine, I was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder. I feel forever grateful that instead of assaulting me with a barrage of medications my mother decided it was time for me to learn to meditate…Although when you’re nine you have trouble articulating the sort of internal shifts you feel, I know that it made an incredible difference. It made it possible for me to understand what I was going through, and to process what I was going through and to calm down.” She added, “When I was a teenager I stopped meditating because sitting still for 20 minutes is very low on the list of things teenagers want to do unless they’re stoned. But when I started working in the incredible, challenging and often very stressful world of entertainment, my world was spinning really quickly and I knew that I needed to return to some sense of calm.”

Tom Hanks Deals With Diabetes
Tom Hanks’ recent revelation about living with Type 2 diabetes is already taking a toll on his career. The actor two-time Oscar winner revealed to UK’s BBC that he can no longer transform his body for film roles.
The Captain Phillips star explained, “I’ve talked to a number of actors who have gained weight for roles and — just out of the sheer physical toll on one’s knees and shoulders — no one wants to do it again. I think that’s more or less a young man’s game. I’m 57 and I don’t think I’m going to take on any job — or go on any vacation again — and see to it that I can gain 30 lbs.” He added, “Gaining and losing of weight may have had something to do with this, because you eat so much bad food and you don’t get any exercise when you’re heavy. But I think I was genetically inclined to get it, and I think it actually all goes back to a lifestyle I’ve been leading ever since I was 7 years old, as opposed to 36.”
- Hanks had to drastically change his body for roles in Philadelphia, Castaway, and Forrest Gump.
