20TH CENTURY FOX TWEETS FIRST IMAGE FROM ‘GONE GIRL’: The official 20th Century Fox Twitter account released the first photo from the new film Gone Girl based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn. The photo features Ben Affleck in character as a philandering husband whose wife goes missing on their fifth anniversary. Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, and Tyler Perry also star in the film. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 3rd, 2014.
REAL-LIFE ‘WOLF OF WALL STREET’ SHOPPING REALITY SHOW: Jordan Belfort, the real-life inspiration for Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Wolf of Wall Street is reportedly shopping a reality show with studio exec Chris Grant that will apparently showcase Jordan’s “unique set of business skills.” Grant told the Hollywood Reporter, “I knew without even seeing a picture of him that he could be a talent both behind and in front of the camera.” Chris went on to say that networks who have met with Belfort described him as “TV gold.”
MARTIN FREEMAN DISCUSSES ALMOST LOSING OUT ON ‘SHERLOCK’ ROLE: The Hobbit star Martin Freeman recently chatted with Radio Times about how he almost lost out on the starring role of BBC’s Sherlock. He admitted that he wasn’t in a good frame of mind on the day of his audition because his wallet was stolen that day and added, “I’ll admit maybe I was a bit stressed. But a week later my agent rang and said, ‘Listen, this Sherlock thing, they’re sort of under the impression you weren’t that into it.’ I said ‘Oh…I am really interested. Please call them and let them know that I am interested. I wasn’t being blasé about it at all. I just wasn’t on my best day. So I came in again, read with Benedict and it instantly worked, it seemed to me…I thought he was a fantastic actor and there was something about our rhythms, similarities and differences that meant that it just happened.” Sherlock will be airing on PBS Masterpiece on January 19th.
‘NIKITA’ SERIES FINALE SCORES LOW RATINGS: CW’s series finale of Nikita proved in its last outing why the network may have pulled the plug on the drama. While airing up against mostly repeats on Friday night (December 27th,) the show scored only 810,000 viewers in the 18-49 demographic. The series which starred Lyndsy Fonseca, Devon Sawa, and Melinda Clarke lasted on the network for four seasons.
BRYANT GUMBEL AND JANE PAULEY TO REUNITE ON ‘TODAY’: NBC’s Today will host a reunion of former anchors Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley today (December 30th.) Pauley was replaced on the show by Deborah Norville back in 1989. Jane still appears on the program for a monthly segment about Americans over 50 starting new careers. Gumbel left in 1997 for a gig at CBS.
JENNIFER ANISTON VACATIONS WITH COURTENEY COX: Jennifer Aniston was photographed over the weekend enjoying a post-holiday vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico with fiancé Justin Theroux and Friends co-star Courteney Cox. According to People, Aniston and Cox enjoyed some fun in the sun on Saturday (December 28th) while showing off their bikini bodies. Other celebrity vacationers in Los Cabos included Howard Stern and his wife as well as Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney.
WOMAN CLAIMS TO HAVE PROOF OF CHARLIE SHEEN’S SEX TAPE: Nicolas Cage’s baby mama, Christina Fulton, is refuting claims that Charlie Sheen’s sex tape doesn’t exist because she says she has a copy of it. Footage of the tape was believed to have been stolen when Fulton’s handyman took four of her computers but cops say there was no proof that Sheen’s sex tape was on any of them. TMZ is reporting that Christina plans to turn the tape over to the court as evidence this week in the hopes of getting her handyman’s suspected accomplices charged after they seemingly got off the hook for their involvement last week.
ZAC EFRON SHOWS OFF HIS SIX MONTHS SOBRIETY CHIP: Zac Efron was photographed at a Laker’s game last week wearing his six months of sobriety chip from AA around his neck. It was revealed earlier this year that Zac secretly completed a stint in rehab back in April 2013 to deal with a substance abuse problem. His sobriety was called into question in November when the former Disney star broke his jaw after allegedly slipping in a puddle of water in his home.
PATRICK SWAYZE’S WIDOW IS ENGAGED: Lisa Niemi, Patrick Swayze’s widow, is engaged to her jeweler boyfriend Albert DePrisco. People has confirmed that DePrisco proposed on Christmas Eve after a year and a half of dating. Niemi was married to Patrick for 34 years until his death in 2009 of pancreatic cancer.
‘MILLIONAIRE MATCHMAKER’ REVEALS HER BIGGEST REGRET: Bravo reality star Patti Stanger, star of Millionaire Matchmaker, revealed to OK! magazine that her biggest regret in life was not having any children. She explained during a Q&A on Twitter, “My biggest regret is that I didn’t have children. I had an abortion in my 20s. I was pregnant and I didn’t have enough money and I didn’t think it was okay to have a child and be a single parent. Now, look, everyone’s doing that. I didn’t find the right guy at the right time to have one with, I guess. But I don’t think I would adopt and be single. I would have eventually found a guy, settled down, got the picket fence. I just didn’t meet person at the right time, I wasn’t that lucky, like a lot of other people.”
Robin Roberts Confirms She Is Gay
Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts has confirmed that she is gay. In a Facebook post on Sunday (December 29th), Roberts reflected on her battle with cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome, and said that she was grateful for her longtime girlfriend Amber Laign.
- She wrote, “At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude. I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health. I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.”
