There will be new episodes airing through May but no new episodes will be produced beyond the first season. The former reality show star released a statement on Friday (February 14th) saying, “I had a blast doing this show with Telepictures. My entire staff worked so hard and mad every day so much fun. I am thankful for the experience and for all my fans who tuned in every day.” A source told E! News, “She loved doing the show. But at the same time, it’s a blessing in disguise. She has so many other projects to work on. She’s focused on continuing to build her brand and making it bigger and better than ever.”
NETFLIX ANNOUNCES ‘ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK’ SEASON 2 START DATE: Netflix has released a new teaser trailer for season two of Orange Is the New Black which revealed the new batch of episodes will launch on June 6th. The teaser was attached to the final episode of the second season of House of Cards which was released on Valentine’s Day. Taryn Manning discussed the upcoming episodes with Access Hollywood earlier this month saying, “The show just continues to get wild and the writing is supreme. You just get to peek in a little bit more into the characters and you really start to get to know other characters that maybe you didn’t get to know in season 1.” The series initially debuted on Netflix in July 2013.
MICHAEL KEATON CONFIRMS ‘BEETLEJUICE 2’: Michael Keaton revealed to MTV News at the premiere of his new film Robocop that there is a sequel to Beatlejuice on the way. He explained, “I’ve e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved in some way or another.” He added, “Now it looks like Burton is involved. And without giving too much away, we’ve talked to each other, and e-mailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.”
‘SCRUBS’ TO BECOME A MUSICAL: After first teasing the idea of a Scrubs Broadway musical on Twitter back in 2012, the show’s creator Bill Lawrence recently provided an update to Entertainment Weekly saying, “We have an outline basically showing where we’re looking for songs, how we would intend to do fantasies, how we would use that a cappella band as a Greek chorus that would be on stage singing the theme when people come in. When that outline goes out to composers, they’ll know the tone because they’ve seen the show and some of the musical stuff we’ve done.” He went on to discuss Zach Braff’s involvement in the project saying, “Zach will be involved creatively because he’s a theater lover like me, but part of the fun for us is that we would go with Broadway musical stars.”
ABC FAMILY CANCELS ‘RAVENSWOOD’: Pretty Little Liars spinoff Ravenswood has been canceled by ABC Family. The series premiered strong back in October following the Pretty Little Liars Halloween special but ultimately lost a lot of its audience when it was moved into its regular time slot. There is no word on whether Tyler Blackburn’s character Caleb will be returning to Liars now that the spin-off is no more.
KRISTEN STEWART STANDS UP FOR WOMEN: Kristen Stewart recently chatted with Stylist where she sounded off on the inequality between men and women. The 23-year-old told the magazine, “People call women the weaker sex — it’s crazy. You have to stand up to that and be ready for things to be hard and for things to be serious. Female’s ambition is different to men’s. Men have a drive to make their mark on the world so people remember them. Women are more fulfilled with the selfless drive to create things, but one of the main struggles is finding out what you’re good at and going for it. It’s a total cliché — a man in a powerful position is considered assertive, whereas a woman is a ‘b**ch.'” She added, “Unfortunately we do need to consider how things are coming across — because people will stop listening to women much more quickly than they will a man.”
COSMOPOLITAN MAGAZINE KEPT ROSIE O’DONNELL IN THE CLOSET: Marlo Thomas interviewed Rosie O’Donnell for The Huffington Post where they discussed how being an out celebrity has changed over the past 20 years. The 51-year-old explained, “At that time, nobody printed it. I remember Editor-in-Chief Helen Gurley Brown took it out of an interview that a reporter had done with me in, like, 1992. He said, ‘Are you gay?’ and I said, ‘Yes.’ She took it out…She was protecting me because at that time it would’ve been a huge issue, right? So, I think it’s changed a lot. I think it’s much more common and people are much more used to it. Being a part of a gay family was not nearly as troubling to my kids as being part of a famous family.” Rosie eventually came out publicly in 2002 during a show at Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City.
JOHN KRASINSKI WELCOMES FIRST CHILD WITH EMILY BLUNT: The Office actor John Krasinski and Devil Wears Prada actress Emily Blunt welcomed their first child together yesterday (February 16th.) ROSIE PEREZ RECALLS NASTY ENCOUNTER WITH JENNIFER LOPEZ: Rosie Perez reveals in her new tell-all memoir, Handbook for an Unpredictable Life, that she and Jennifer Lopez had some nasty interactions during their days on the sketch comedy show In Living Color. The 49-year-old takes credit for getting Lopez on the show as a fly girl but adds, “All of the girls were coming into my office complaining how she was manipulating wardrobe, makeup, and me, all to her advantage.” Rosie also recalls a confrontation where the American Idol judge yelled at her saying, “You pick on me, me and only me, every f**king day! Every f**king day! I work my ass off, deliver and you keep pushing me aside, treating me like s**t! I know I’m good! I’m better than any of these girls, and you know it.” Rosie’s book will be released on February 25th.
