A company has created a mirror that takes your selfie and posts the image to twitter. The machine named S.E.L.F.I.E, or “The Self Enhancing Live Feed Image Engine” is made of a Mac mini, a two-way mirror, a web cam and LED lights to indicate when the photo is being taken. The facial recognition software installed on the Mac recognizes you, takes the photo and then shares it to twitter with your company logo. The mirror, which was created by iStrategyLabs isn’t currently for sale, but interested parties can reach out to the company if they have interest. (Mashable)
You’ll Be Able to Buy Google Glass Next Week — But for One Day Only
For all the headlines and controversy about Google Glass, only people who’ve been able to get into Google’s program to be so-called “Explorers” have been able to use them. But now anyone willing to spend $1,500 to buy Glass will be able to get a pair — but for one day only. Starting at 9 a.m. ET next Tuesday (April 15th), people will be able to go online and buy a pair, although Google notes that there’s a limited supply available. Google has been pushing back against the negative image many have of Glass, mostly over privacy concerns because they can take pictures and video. In a recent release, the company said, “If someone wants to secretly record you, there are much, much better cameras out there than one you wear conspicuously on your face and that lights up every time you give a voice command or press a button.” People wearing Glass have been banned or even thrown out of some bars, restaurants and other businesses over privacy concerns.
