MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN MORE ‘TRUE DETECTIVE': Despite having only signed on to do one season, Matthew McConaughey recently admitted that he’d be open to doing more True Detective. The Oscar winner told Deadline, “If HBO had wanted an option on me for a season two or three, I wouldn’t have done it. I wouldn’t have walked into something where they could say, ‘We’ve got you for the next three years.’ I liked True Detective, the whole series and the experience of making it, so much that I’d be open to doing another one now. At the time, I was looking at six months and not beyond that. I don’t know of a feature film I’d sign for where I’m going to say, ‘If this works, you’ve got me whenever you want me for the next three years.'” The show’s creator, Nic Pizzolatto, revealed to HitFix that the second season will have three leads and one will be female. He teased, “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”
‘FACTS OF LIFE’ STAR TO REUNITE FOR TV MOVIE: Former Facts of Life stars Lisa Whelchel and Kim Fields are reuniting for a new movie to air on the Hallmark Channel. The project, called For Better or For Worse, is an adaptation of a novel by Diann Hunt and follows Wendy, played by Whelchel, as a wedding coordinator who gets a second chance at love following the death of her husband. Kim will play her co-worker Roseanne. Network VP Michelle Vicary said in a statement, “To have Lisa Whelchel and Kim Fields reunite is a big TV event. Hallmark Channel is the perfect place to see these iconic stars together again.”
DARREN ARONOFSKY DEVELOPING SERIES FOR HBO: Noah director Darren Aronofsky has been tapped to develop a new series for HBO. The show will be based on the MaddAddam book trilogy by Canadian author Margaret Atwood. The story takes place in a dystopian future where corporations now run the show in place of governments. Darren will executive produce the project and might also direct.
LIFETIME DEVELOPING ‘PROJECT RUNWAY’-LIKE COMPETITION FOR KIDS: Lifetime has announced plans for a new reality competition called Threads from the producers of Project Runway. The series will showcase the talents of teen and tween fashion designers. Vanessa Simmons will host and the judges will be Runway alum Christian Siriano, Seventeen Fashion Director Gina Kelly, Seventeen Accessories Editor Jasmine Snow, and YouTube style guru Ingrid Nilsen.
‘MINDY PROJECT’ ACTOR TO CO-STAR IN TINA FEY/AMY POEHLER MOVIE: The Mindy Project writer and actor, Ike Barinholtz, has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming Tina Fey/Amy Poehler movie, The Nest. He will be playing a neighbor and love interest of Amy’s character. The film will be released on December 18th, 2015. Ike recently co-starred in The Neighbors.
CHANNING TATUM REVEALS FAVORITE ACTIVITY WITH DAUGHTER: Channing Tatum attended the New York premiere of 22 Jump Street on Wednesday (June 4th) where he discussed his favorite thing to do with his one-year-old daughter Everly. The doting father said, “Watching her experience the world and seeing other kids and people is my favorite thing to do with her. She saw a kite for the first time and she was like, ‘What is that?’ It’s fun to see her experience new things.” Channing and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum celebrated Everly’s first birthday last weekend. He posted a photo of the birthday girl sitting outside on the grass wearing a fairy outfit.
TOM CRUISE ISN’T DATING SOFIA VERGARA: Tom Cruise and Sofia Vergara may have a bit of a romantic history but Page Six insists that recent reports of a rekindled romance are completely untrue. Woman’s Day cites sources who claim that the movie star has allegedly been lifting Sofia’s spirits since her split with Nick Loeb and that there is a definite spark between them. A friend of the Modern Family actress explained that despite what went on a decade ago, the pair have not gone on any dates recently.
‘GONE GIRL’ STAR IS PREGNANT: Rosamund Pike, star of the upcoming film adaptation of the best-selling novel Gone Girl, is pregnant. Her rep has confirmed to Us Weekly that she and boyfriend Robie Uniacke are expecting their second child together. They also have a two-year-old son named Solo. The couple first met back in 2009.
BRADLEY COOPER’S ON-SET PDA WITH SUKI WATERHOUSE: Bradley Cooper and model girlfriend Suki Waterhouse still appear to be going strong. They were photographed on the set of Brad’s new movie on Wednesday (June 4th) making out and holding hands. The former Oscar nominee has been filming scenes for American Sniper in L.A. Brad and Suki first took their relationship public at the Spike TV Guys’ Choice awards in June 2013.
‘MAN VS FOOD’ HOST SHOWS OFF WEIGHT LOSS: Former Man vs Food host Adam Richman is showing off his 70-pound weight loss by posing nude for the July issue of UK’s Cosmopolitan magazine. The 40-year-old old posed wearing only cleats, socks, and a strategically placed soccer ball. He says in the interview, “To go from hating the way I looked to being a Cosmo centerfold is a profound honor. If you’re a guy who’s always been the fun-to-be-around teddy bear, then all of a sudden people are viewing you as sexy, it’s nice. It’s great not having to be the plucky best friend, or the comic relief anymore — I love that. Who wouldn’t rather hear, ‘Wow, you look great,’ than, ‘Ewww…’?” Adam actually got naked for the issue to raise awareness about male cancer for Cancer Research UK.
The First Lady Will Speak At Maya Angelou’s Funeral
The First Lady Michelle Obama will be in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to speak at Maya Angelou‘s funeral tomorrow (June 7th). The funeral will take place at Wake Forest Univerity. It will be a private service, but will be live streamed.
- Angelou died last Wednesday (May 28th) at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at age 86. She began teaching at Wake Forest in 1982.
