Conway schools still need a new superintendent, and the SAU 9 Board will meet tonight to discuss the search process. Current superintendent Carl Nelson has delayed retirement twice already waiting for his successor to be selected. After a nationwide search, only two candidates applied for the job in January, and neither was qualified. So, Nelson has agreed to stay on part-time so that he can begin collecting his retirement. Meanwhile, the job is being advertised at a higher salary. Nelson has made 115 thousand a year. The ads for the job now offer up to 160 thousand for the right candidate.
