BILL MURRAY JOINS ‘THE JUNGLE BOOK': Bill Murray has joined the cast of Jon Favreau’s reboot of The Jungle Book. He will be voicing Baloo in the live action/animated film. Disney has announced the movie will hit theaters in October 2015.
KATE MARA WRAPS ‘FANTASTIC FOUR': Kate Mara took to Twitter on Saturday (August 2nd) announcing that filming has completed for her role in the reboot of Fantastic Four. She shared a photo with her co-stars and wrote, “That’s a wrap on #FantasticFour! Thanks to my boys @Miles_Teller @michaelb4jordan @1jamiebell for the fun times.” The former House of Cards actress plays Sue Storm. Fantastic Four will be released on June 15th, 2015 and it has already been announced that the sequel will hit theaters on July 14th, 2017.
‘TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXCTINCTION’ PASSES ONE BILLION IN GLOBAL BOX OFFICE: Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth film in the series, has crossed the one billion dollar mark at the global box office. It has earned $241.2 million in the U.S. and $763.8 million internationally. It is only the second chapter in the franchise to reach the milestone — behind 2011’s Dark of the Moon. The Mark Wahlberg movie initially hit theaters in late June.
FEMALE-FOCUSED ‘GHOSTBUSTERS’ REBOOT IN THE WORKS: Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is supposedly negotiating a deal to helm an all-female reboot of Ghostbusters. The project is apparently separate from the third Ghostbusters project that has been rumored. Feig will also be reteaming with Melissa McCarthy for the upcoming comedy, Spy, which will be hitting theaters Memorial Day weekend of 2015.
‘CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG’ SLATED FOR 2016: Universal has announced that the live-action/animated 3D adaptation of Clifford The Big Red Dog will be released on April 8th, 2016. The project is based on the children’s book series which has previously been adapted to television on PBS. It will be directed by David Bowers.
EMMA WATSON PROTESTS TURKISH DEPUITY PRIME MINISTER: Emma Watson took to Twitter over the weekend to join in the protest again Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc who said in a speech to end Ramadan, “A woman should be chaste. She should know the difference between public and private. She should not laugh in public.” The Noah actress joined thousands of Turkish women on social media who have been uploading photos of themselves laughing in public aadding the hashtags, “#direnkahkaha (resist laughter)” and “#direnkadin (resist woman)” Emma is a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women.
KIRSTIE ALLEY RESPONDS TO MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY: Kirstie Alley has broken her silence after Maksim Chmerkovskiy bad-mouthed her scientology faith on Watch What Happens Live last week saying, “She stopped getting along with me. I think the world of her. I am not judging people by their religion. I’m Jewish. I don’t really believe in science fiction, but whatever. It’s sad that we’ve gone through so much together, and I feel like I’ve helped her. And this is where we’re at now. But I think the world of her, and I wish her the best.” Alley wrote on Friday (August 1st,) “Dear Sir..after you have ass raped me there is really no reason to include “I wish you the best”…It’s rhetorical” She has since posted a number of other tweets regarding gossip and rumors without singling anyone out.
CHERYL HINES MARRIES A KENNEDY: Former Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines married Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Saturday (August 2nd) in front of family and friends. They were married under a tent at a house previously owned by President John F. Kennedy and Jackie. Guests included Larry David, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kevin Nealon, and Ed Begley. Cheryl and Robert first became engaged back in May.
MEGAN FOX DEFENDS SHIA LABEOUF: Megan Fox doesn’t think her Transformers co-star, Shia LaBeouf, is a cause for concern. The Ninja Turtles actress chatted with the New York Daily News about the troubled actor saying, “I’m not worried about Shia. I love my Shia. He’s perfectly fine. I haven’t talked to him in a couple of years, but I don’t worry about him. He’s a brilliant kid, talented and funny…There’s no reason to worry.”
MISCHA BARTON MAY LOSE HER HOUSE: Former O.C. star Mischa Barton is allegedly in danger of losing her home if she can’t pay up some major dough quickly. According to TMZ, the actress owes $100,000 is back mortgage payments on her house in Beverly Hills. She has tried to sell the property several times since 2010 with no luck. Mischa has recently also apparently tried to lease the eight bedroom, 11 bathroom, house which also has three guesthouses for $35,000 a month.
Orlando Bloom Denied Entry Into Posh Party
It appears as though Justin Bieber has won the latest battle in his beef with Orlando Bloom. Page Six is reporting that the Romeo & Juliet actor was denied entry to the 40th birthday party of designer Riccardo Tisci on Friday night (August 3rd) because Justin was already partying inside.
A witness revealed that Orlando was arriving late and the pop star had his people allegedly convince the party organizers that his new nemesis should be kept out. Bloom supposedly tried for a bit to gain entry before giving up.
- Earlier in the week, the pair made headlines after getting into a scuffle, reportedly over Miranda Kerr, at Cipriani in Ibiza.
- Other celebrity attendees at Tisci’s party included Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Diddy, Jared Leto, Kate Moss, Kris Jenner, and Kendall Jenner.
- Rumors are also circulating that Justin was seen flirting with Kendall at the party.
