Fryeburg Police had Lovewell Pond Road shut down yesterday morning after an automobile accident. According to Fryeburg Acting Police Chief Joshua J. Potvin at 8:40 am 55-year-old Frances Nevers of Baldwin and Denise Burke, 56, of Fryeburg were stopped in traffic at the intersection of Ice House Road and Lovewell Pond Road in a Chevy Malibu. While waiting to make a right-hand turn they were struck head-on by Harvey Burnell, 79 of Fryeburg in his Ford who was turning left onto Ice House. Fryeburg Rescue responded with two ambulances due to the amount of patients to be evaluated, while fire personnel assisted with leaking fluids and traffic. According to Officer Timothy Libby, Burnell failed to remain in the proper travel lane when making the turn resulting in personal injury. There are no charges pending at this timee. Burke was transported to Bridgton Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
