Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter is accused of taking photos of an ultrasound test and a plaster stomach cast that were in the surrogate’s home, in hopes of selling them to celebrity photographers. SANDRA BULLOCK GETS A CAREER BEST: New Moon may have broken records last weekend, but Sandra Bullock got a respectable second place at the box office, and her personal career best for a movie opening, with her new drama The Blind Side. The movie came in second with $34.5 million in ticket sales. The fact-based story about a Tennessee housewife who takes in a homeless black teenager and encourages him to become a football hero has won strong reviews from critics. Only last September, her comedy All About Steve was a bomb, earning less in its entire run than The Blind Side did in its opening weekend. Bullock’s biggest movie so far is The Proposal, which earned $164 million in the U.S.

LEVI JOHNSTON PLAYS IT COY: Photos from Levi Johnston’s Playgirl magazine photo shoot finally popped up on the Internet on Saturday, and he’s playing it coy, or at least Playgirl is. The photos show Johnston only from the waist up. More equally tasteful photos will be released weekly for the next few weeks, a Playgirl spokesman says. Readers who want to see the whole Levi — or at least as much as the photos reveal — will have to buy the mag or enroll in the Web site. As the Web site Gawker.com says: “Levi only has one thing Playgirl’s readers want to see, and it’s not his SAT2 score.”
The dust hasn’t even settled on Oprah Winfrey’s announcement last week that she’ll end her long-running daytime talk show in 2011, and already people are talking about who could replace her. Winfrey’s show has claimed the coveted 4 p.m. eastern time slot for more than 20 years. That’s considered the best time of the day, because more people are at home then.
