REGIS PHILBIN DOING WELL AFTER HIP SURGERY: Regis Philbin underwent successful hip surgery on Tuesday (December 1st). The talk show host’s rep told Entertainment Tonight, “Everything went perfectly this morning during Regis’ hip replacement surgery, and his doctor said that Regis couldn’t be in better shape. Regis anticipates returning to ‘LIVE! with Regis and Kelly’ soon after the first of the year, given the procedure’s typical four-six week recovery time. Regis and Joy want to thank everyone for their support and best wishes.”
BRANGELINA STEP OUT FOR DATE NIGHT: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stepped out for dinner in Beverly Hills on Monday (November 30th), the day before a controversial tell-all book about their relationship hit stores. On the eve of Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s release, the couple held hands for the rare public date night. The book claims that the couple is constantly breaking up, comparing their fighting to “cats and dogs.”
DAVID HASSELHOFF DENIES REPORTS OF HIS CONDITION: David Haselhoff is denying reports that he had an alcohol-related seizure over the weekend and was consequently placed under an involuntarily psych at a Los Angeles hospital. Although his rep confirmed a two-day hospitalization, Hasselhoff told TMZ.com, “I’m with my family, I’m happy, I’m healthy and contrary to reports I did not have a seizure. I did not be (sic) admitted to a psychiatric ward. My private life is exactly that, private. I’m happy, I’m healthy thank you very much.”
JAMES WOODS SETTLES SUIT OVER BROTHER’S DEATH: James Woods has settled the lawsuit against a Rhode Island hospital where his brother died in 2006. On Tuesday (December 1st), the hospital’s chief executive, Sandra Coletta acknowledged that the hospital made mistakes in Michael’s care and vowed to create an institute in Michael Woods’ honor in which $1.25 million will be invested over the next two years to study redesigning health care and reducing errors. Woods had claimed that his brother had a heart attack and died in the emergency room after going there with a sore throat and vomiting.
HULK HOGAN ENGAGED? Hulk Hogan may be getting married again. TMZ.com saw the actor at the airport earlier this week with girlfriend Jennifer McDaniel — who was sporting “massive ring finger bling.” He volunteered that McDaniel “could be the new Mrs. Hogan.”
ELISABETH HASSELBECK ACCUSER FILES CHARGES AGAIN: The woman who claims Elisabeth Hasselbeck plagiarized her book has re-filed charges against The View cohost, after her first lawsuit was thrown out last month. TMZ.com reports that Susan Hassett claims her original suit was tossed out on a technicality, which she has now fixed. Hassett claims Hasselbeck lifted “word for word” content from a book on celiac disease that she self-published.
KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN CLOSING BOUTIQUE: Just as she’s about to have a child of her own, Kourtney Kardashian is closing down her children’s boutique in California. The expectant mom wrote on her blog, “After thinking about it long and hard, we have decided to close Smooch. This does make me sad, but I also know that I don’t have the time, especially now that I will have my baby boy to take care of. It is just not the same without me and my mom there to run it.”
TWILIGHT SAGA TO HAVE TWO-PART FINALE? Breaking Dawn, the fourth novel in the Twilight saga, may be stretched into two movies. Although one Breaking Dawn film hasn’t even been confirmed yet, Variety reports that Summit Entertainment wants the novel to be adapted into a two-part finale for the movie series. People magazine notes that as of now, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg — who wrote the first three movies’ scripts — hasn’t begun writing Breaking Dawn. Additionally, stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner need to sign on board, and presumably would demand substantial raises.
JENNIFER ANISTON HELPING SELL YOGA DVD: Jennifer Aniston is helping launch her yoga instructor’s new DVD. The New York Post reported that the actress flew back from a Moroccan vacation to host a party for Mandy Ingber’s DVD — in which she gives a personal introduction.
BRITTANY MURPHY DEFENDS SELF AFTER FIRING REPORTS: Brittany Murphy is denying a PerezHilton.com report that she was fired from a recent film for her difficult behavior. After it was reported that the actress and her husband Simon Monjack were getting into fights with the locals, her rep released a statement saying, “The allegations currently circulating on the internet about Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack read like a fictional plot from one of the 50 plus movies Ms. Murphy has successfully completed without incident. She was not nor has she ever been fired from any job big or small. Mr. Monjack did not engage in any alleged scuffles. Though due to creative differences Ms. Murphy and the production mutually parted ways.”
‘HEROES’ STAR GETS NEW JOB: Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy has joined NBC’s comedic drama pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer as a regular. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Jane Curtin also has been cast in the pilot, which stars David Tennant as Rex Alexander, a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and starts coaching clients to represent themselves in court.
The investigation into Tiger Woods’ car accident is complete and the only penalty he will face is a $164 ticket and four points on his license. The Florida Highway Patrol announced on Tuesday (December 1st) that the golfer has been ticketed for careless driving as a result of last Friday’s single vehicle crash.
The FHP added that it will not seek any search warrants for his medical records and noted that no one involved has made claims of domestic violence.
Maj. Cindy Williams of the Florida Highway Patrol noted, “Mr. Woods’ status in no way impacted our investigation or conclusion. The investigation has determined that Mr. Woods is at fault in the crash.” She concluded, “With the issuance of this citation, the Florida Highway Patrol has completed its investigation into this matter.”
SECOND ALLEGED MISTRESS COMES FORWARD
As speculation continues to swirl as to whether Woods’ supposed affair with a New York City club manager prompted a fight with his wife that led to the accident — another woman has come forward, claiming to have bedded the famed golfer.
Jaimee Grubbs, who is now 24-years-old, told Us Weekly that she and Woods began having an affair in April of 2007. Grubbs, who recently appeared on VH1′s Tool Academy, claims that she and Tiger had 20 sexual encounters — and says she has more than 300 racy texts to prove it.
