BEN STILLER IS CRAZY ABOUT B-R-U-C-E! Actor Ben Stiller was on stage to honor Robert DeNiro at the Kennedy Center honors ceremony over the weekend, but he got all distracted when he spotted another of the event’s honorees. “Oh my God, it’s Bruce Springsteen!” Stiller yelled. “Bruuuuce!” Springsteen and DeNiro, along with comedian Mel Brooks, jazz great Dave Brubeck and opera singer Grace Bumbry, were honored with lifetime achievement awards at the event, which will be televised on December 29th on CBS. Actually, President Barack Obama was pretty impressed, too. “I’m the President, but he’s The Boss,” President Obama said when he introduced Springsteen at a White House reception before the program.

  • Guests at the star-studded reception in the White House East Room included Jack Black, Edward Norton, Matthew Broderick, Martin Scorsese, Sting and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

DON’T EVER TOUCH DANIELLE STAUB’S HAIRDO: Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub has filed assault charges against another woman for pulling her hair weave. According to PerezHilton.com, Staub’s fake do was yanked by a 19-year-old at a New Jersey Country Club last month, as Bravo cameras rolled. Staub’s lawyer says he’s “sure she was in pain” when her extensions were pulled out. Staub and her alleged assailant were in a New Jersey court on Thursday, where a judge ordered the teenager to enter a plea or stand trial.

RON LIVINGSTON SUES HACKER: Ron Livingston, star of Office Space, is suing an unnamed person who, he says, repeatedly hacked into the actor’s Wikipedia entry to add suggestions that he’s gay. Livingston is suing for libel, invasion of privacy, and using his image without permission, according to the site PerezHilton.com. Livingston is married to Rosemarie Dewitt.

HULK HOGAN WANTS HIS TOILET SEAT BACK: How weird is this? According to TMZ.com, the legal documents filed in Hulk Hogan’s divorce from wife Linda Hogan include a list of things he wants back, including an antique wooden toilet from the guest house. Hulk says he just can’t even show the house to potential buyers until she returns the toilet seat and the other stuff she took, like the chandelier, and the tanning bed, and on and on.

RICKEY AND WHITNEY WIN THE RACE: Meghan Rickey and Cheyne (SHANE) Whitney triumphed over two other couples to win one million dollars in the finale of the 15th edition of The Amazing Race last night (Sunday). The San Diego couple almost blew the whole thing by going to the wrong Las Vegas casino at the end of the world-wide competition staged for the CBS reality show. But in the end, they made it to the right joint and won the last challenge, which was counting out a million dollars worth of chips before any other competitor.

RAY ROMANO RETURNS, OLDER AND MAYBE WISER: The star of Everybody Loves Raymond returns tonight, Monday, in a new series on TNT called Men of a Certain Age. Ray Romano again is part of the creative process, and co-wrote the pilot with Raymond collaborator Mike Royce. But TV Guide says his new series will focus on weightier issues. In the series, Romano is turning age 50 and trying to rebuild his life after the collapse of his marriage. Scott Bakula, known for the series Quantum Leap, and Andre Braugher, formerly of Homicide, co-star.

Bruagher tells TV Guide: “I think we can all relate to the being at that age and asking the question: ‘Is that all there is?’” Braugher says. “Some people go insane when they realize that’s all there is, and some people become better. How you respond to that question is how you’re life’s going to go.”

WHY RYAN GOSLING WAS REPLACED IN THE LOVELY BONES: Director Peter Jackson has explained why Ryan Gosling dropped out of a major role in his new movie The Lovely Bones right before filming started, and was replaced by Mark Wahlberg. It turns out that Gosling, who is 26 years old, just thought he was too young for the role. By the end of the movie, the character has a daughter who is about 17. “It didn’t have anything to do with his acting ability. He’s like the Marlon Brando of our generation. It was just an age thing,” the director told The New York Post. Wahlberg stepped in to co-star with Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon in the adaptation of the best-selling crime thriller by Alice Sebold.

KYM JOHNSON DANCES ONTO BROADWAY STAGE: Dancing with the Stars pro Kym Johnson, who partnered with Donny Osmond to take home the season 9 mirror ball trophy last month, has danced off with a plum role on Broadway in the show Burn The Floor. And her partner on The Great White Way is another pro from the reality show, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Johnson also appears in two new DVDs released last week, Dancing with the Stars Dance Off the Pounds and Dancing with the Stars Dance Body Tone.

BRITAIN TAKES ANIMAL CRUELTY SERIOUSLY: Two stars of the British version of the reality show I’m a Celebrity-Get Me Out of Here! have been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly killing and eating a rat while cameras rolled. Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo and soap actor Stuart Manning could face up to three years in prison if convicted.

To no one’s surprise, Saturday Night Live got some fun out of Tiger Woods‘ ongoing marital drama, but some fans aren’t laughing. The skit featured Keenan Thompson as Tiger, trying to explain away a series of injuries apparently inflicted by his golf club-wielding wife, played by Blake Lively, who hovers by his side. The site Popeater is among those criticizing the skit as insensitive on the issue of domestic violence. But the site’s own poll finds viewers don’t think SNL went too far this time, by a margin of 80 percent to 20 percent.
