DENNIS QUAID TRYING TO PREVENT MEDICAL ERRORS: Dennis Quaid is helping launch a national program aimed at preventing medication errors similar to the one that hurt his newborn children in 2007. The actor announced the creation of the National Alert Network for Serious Medication Errors, which will send e-mail alerts to roughly 35,000 pharmacists, doctors, nurses and other medical professionals when a serious or potentially serious error happens in giving medication. Quaids’ twins were given an overdose of a blood thinner shortly after they were born but are fine now.

MICHELLE DUGGAR HOSPITALIZED: Michelle Duggar — who is pregnant with her 19th child — was hospitalized over the weekend with a gallbladder problem. A rep for TLC — which airs Duggar’s 18 Kids and Counting — said, “The pain from a gallstone was generating some contractions. Just to be safe, she was airlifted a Little Rock, Ark., hospital, so that in the unlikely event that she had to be delivered early, she would be close to a NICU center. Though there were some fears that the baby was in trouble initially, it soon was discovered to be solely the gallstone causing the discomfort. Michelle is resting comfortably, and the baby is doing fine.”

HULK HOGAN OFFICIALLY ENGAGED: A source close to Hulk Hogan confirmed to Usmagazine.com that the wrestler/reality star is in fact engaged to Jennifer McDaniel, his girlfriend of two years. Rumors had been swirling since McDaniel was recently spotted with a diamond ring.

DOCTORS IN SIMPSON CASE TO BE BANNED FROM PRACTICING MEDICINE? The Medical Board of California is requesting that the court suspend Doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich — who are facing charges for the death of Anna Nicole Smith — from practicing medicine as a condition to their bail. According to TMZ.com, the Medical Board said that “waiting for a possible conviction to take action puts the public at risk” and they also want the court to force both doctors to surrender their controlled substance prescription forms.

AMY ADAMS IMPATIENT TO LEARN BABY’S SEX: Amy Adams doesn’t planned on being surprised by the sex of her baby in the delivery room. The pregnant actress told Entertianment Tonight, “We will probably find out (if it’s a boy or girl). I thought about waiting, but that is not my personality. I am impatient. It is not about planning a nursery; it is more about I want to know. I want to relate in that way.” The 35-year-old is due in the spring.

ONNIE HUNT SHOW CANCELED? The Bonnie Hunt Show has reportedly been canceled. Sources told PerezHilton.com that Hunt informed her staff of the news on Monday (December 7th), but said they are planning to finish out the rest of this season.

ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL TO GUEST STAR ON ‘CSI: MIAMI’: Anthony Michael Hall will play a convicted killer on CSI: Miami. People magazine reports that in the episode, which will tape this week and air next year, Hall will play a charming and charismatic former emergency room doctor who is now a convicted killer.

ANDREW MCCARTHY TO DIRECT ‘GOSSIP GIRL’ EPISODE: Former Brat Packer Andrew McCarthy has signed up to direct an episode of Gossip Girl. McCarthy compared his teen cohorts to the group he’ll be directing, telling People magazine, “They are much more savvy then we were. We were just a bunch of dumb kids running around.” His episode, which he described as “nice” and “juicy,” will air in 2010.

JULIA ROBERTS IS LANCOME’S GLOBAL AMBASSADOR: Julia Roberts has been named the global ambassador for the beauty giant Lancome. LEIGHTON MEESTER ALBUM COMING OUT NEXT YEAR: Despite cameos on successful tracks from Robin Thicke and Cobra Starship, Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester is still not ready to drop her own album. The actress recently told MTV, “You know, it’s weird — I’m still writing. I’m about to start a movie that’s all about country music, so I’m definitely trying to keep them separated ’cause I really am starting to grasp a hold of that and I really love it.” When asked for a prospective release date she said, “I’m thinking maybe sometime in February or March just so that I have a really good time doing the movie and finishing up Gossip Girl. And then I’ll have a little bit of time to tour and really get into it and do a live show.”

The number of women Tiger Woods has been involved with are multiplying daily, with a total of six identified and still more unnamed ladies supposedly involved with the champion golfer. As of Monday (December 7th), the ladies include Rachel Uchitel, who denied the rumor, then hired lawyer Gloria Allred and announced a press conference that was later canceled amid reports that she received a multi-million payout from Woods for her silence. However, TMZ.com reported that Uchitel was not paid and canceled because she was “scared for her safety.” The 33-year-old party promoter said that she was not scared of Woods, but because she knows so much about his private life she was scared of people around him.
