STEPHANIE MEYER IS VICTIM OF DEATH HOAX: Twilight Saga author Stephanie Meyer is alive, despite a rumor that she’d been found dead at her home on Tuesday (December 8th) morning. GossipCop.com reported that the death hoax gained traction on Facebook and Twitter, but a statement on the author’s website confirms that she’s “alive and well.”
UMA THURMAN ENGAGEMENT CALLED OFF: Uma Thurman and Swiss multimillionaire Arpad “Arki” Busson have called off their engagement. A source told People magazine, “The engagement ended awhile back — almost two months ago. They remain friends.” Busson presented the actress with an eight-carat ring in 2008, but the source said, “She will probably give it back. She wants to return everything that is his.”
NICKY HILTON REPORTEDLY ROBBED: Nicky Hilton’s Hollywood Hills home has reportedly been burglarized. TMZ.com reported that someone working at Nicky’s residence noticed something was wrong and alerted the authorities on Tuesday (December 8th). NBC Los Angeles reported that Nicky told investigators her laptop was stolen among other items.
‘FAMILY TIES’ ACTOR ARRESTED: Brian Bonsall, the now-28-year-old who played Andy Keaton on Family Ties, was arrested over the weekend in Colorado for investigation of assault. PerezHilton.com reports that his friend called police after Bonsall hit him repeatedly with a wooden stool. When officers arrived, Brian told them that he didn’t remember any of the incident as he was drinking at the time. He has been put in a Boulder City Jail with a $7,500 bail and is due in court today (December 9th).
PAULY SHORE SUING BROTHER: Pauly Shore is suing his brother, accusing him of elder abuse towards their mother. RadarOnline.com reports that in court documents, Pauly claims that Mitzi Shore (who suffers from Parkinson’s Disease) has been “rendered susceptible to unscrupulous behavior and other undue influence because of her condition.” Additionally, Pauly claims that his brother Peter, who is the chief executive officer of The Comedy Store in Hollywood, removed him “improperly” from the company’s board of directors and failed to provide various tax returns and monthly cash flow reports over the last 36 months.
LINDSAY LOHAN GOING TO INDIA: Lindsay Lohan has reportedly left the country. Sources told the New York Post that Lohan left behind her drama-filled life on Tuesday (December 8th) to film a documentary with the BBC about impoverished kids in India. Lohan recently tweeted about the project and a friend told the Post, “She is excited about escaping the drama of LA and doing something real.”
MEL GIBSON SEEKING INFORMATION FOR DIVORCE: Mel Gibson’s estranged wife has filed court papers requesting to see the actor’s Directors Guild and Screen Actors Guild health and pension plans plus his Transworld Artists money plan. RadarOnline.com reports that Robyn Gibson is battling for a share of Mel’s estimated $900 million fortune. She filed for divorce earlier this year, shortly before Mel announced that he was expecting a child with his girlfriend.
The mother-in-law of troubled golf champ Tiger Woods was released from a Florida hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Barbro Holmberg, a 57-year-old Swedish politician and mother of Elin Nordegren, had been rushed by ambulance to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, in the middle of the night complaining of stomach pains, but was released hours later in good condition. No official word was made by the hospital about her diagnosis.
KRISTEN WIIG FEATURED IN ‘SNL’ HOLIDAY SPECIAL: Kristen Wiig — rather her popular Saturday Night Live character Gilly — is getting her own Christmas special. NBC announced that they will air a two-hour SNL Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas on December 17th, featuring new sketches with the “mischievous” Gilly as well as classic holiday sketches. Wiig said that the notoriously quiet Gilly will have her “five-word vocabulary stretch to 10 or 11 [words]” for the holiday show. Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, this year’s Academy Award co-hosts, are also slated to make guest appearances on the special, and introduce holiday-themed skits they’ve performed in.
‘HILLS’ CAST RETURNING FOR NEXT SEASON: Audrina Patridge will definitely appear next season on The Hills. The 24-year-old’s participation had been in doubt since she previously signed a deal for her own reality show, however her rep told Usmagazine.com, “I can officially confirm that Audrina Patridge will appear in the 6th season of The Hills. Production will resume shortly after the new year. Next week, Patridge begins filming the pilot episode of her currently unnamed spinoff show, also for MTV . The new show will be produced by Mark Burnett.” People magazine also confirmed that Kristin Cavallari, Justin Bobby, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag will all be returning.
CBS CANCELS ‘AS THE WORLD TURNS’: CBS is canceling the soap opera, As the World Turns. The network announced that the final episode will air next September, in its 54th year. Another long-running soap, Guiding Light, was pulled by CBS earlier this year.
ELISHA CUTHBERT LANDS NEW JOB: Elisha Cuthbert has joined the ABC drama series, The Forgotten in a recurring role. The Hollywood Reporter announced that the 24 actress will appear in a sex-episode arc, for which she’ll play “a strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of “amateur detectives” aside when the Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home.”
‘HAPPY FEET’ VOICES LIKELY RETURNING: Elijah Wood and Robin Williams are in negotiations to reprise their roles as lead voices in Happy Feet 2. The Hollywood Reporter announced that a script for the follow-up to the 2006 animated hit has been written, but other details about the project are scarce.
