LEIF GARRETT ARRESTED: Former teen idol Leif Garrett was arrested on Monday (February 1st) after police approached him on a subway platform in Los Angeles because he was exhibiting “pronounced symptoms” of drug dependency, such as “shaking and sweating.” ABC News reports that a subsequent search revealed that Garrett was in possession of heroin. He was released on bail on Wednesday and is due back in court on February 24 to face charges in the case. The 48-year-old was arrested for possession of heroin in 2006 and sentenced to 90 days in jail after opting out of drug treatment.

KIM KARDASHIAN GRANTED PERMANENT RESTRAINING ORDER: Kim Kardashian was granted a permanent restraining order on Wednesday against an alleged stalker named Dennis Shaun Bowman. TMZ.com report that neither party appeared in court, but a judge agreed to extend a temporary restraining order — put into effect after Bowman kept showing up at her appearances in the L.A. area acting bizarrely — until 2013.

SIMON MONJACK CANCELS BRITTANY MURPHY EVENT: Simon Monjack has canceled the Brittany Murphy Foundation fundraiser amid a flurry of criticism about the event. After it was reported that the late actress’s husband was seeking $1,000 donations to attend the party, he announced it was postponed — reportedly because of a family illness.

SARAH JANE MORRIS GIVES BIRTH: Brothers & Sisters star Sarah Jane Morris welcomed a son on January 24th. Her husband, musician Ned Brower, wrote on Facebook, “S.O.N. (Son of Ned) hath arrived. The 45-year-old actor changed his Facebook status from being “in a relationship” to “engaged” and confirmed to People magazine, “Her name is Erin Kristine Ludwig. She’s a nurse, we’re planning a spring wedding and we’ve been together since Labor Day 09.” Ziering, who appeared on Dancing With the Stars during the show’s fourth season, was previously married to model-actress Nikki Schieler Ziering, but that relationship ended in divorce in 2002.

KATIE PRICE MARRIED: British tabloid sensation Katie Price got married to her martial-arts fighter boyfriend in Las Vegas on Tuesday (February 2nd). The nuptials came less than a year after Price split from her ex-husband, Peter Andrew, with whom she starred on a popular reality show. People magazine reports that just three hours after landing in Vegas, Price and Alex Reid applied for a marriage license, setting the nuptials in motion.

MENA SUVARI WEDDING DETAILS LEAK: Mena Suvari will reportedly tie the knot with her fiance, music promoter Simone Sestito in Rome this summer. The New York Post reports that the couple, who got engaged in July 2008, were overheard finalizing details for the nuptials at a local bar. The American beauty star also recently had a wedding dress fitting.
PAMELA ANDERSON ON ‘DANCING WITH THE STARS?’: Pamela Anderson is reportedly in talks to be one of the contestants on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. FINALE DATE ANNOUNCED FOR ‘LOST’: The series finale of Lost will air on May 23rd, the show’s producers announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live. PARIS HILTON SHOW AT CENTER OF LAWSUIT: Paris Hilton’s reality show My New BFF is at the center of an $8 million lawsuit. PerezHilton.com reports that Lionsgate Television executives claim that the producers at Uniqon Emirates, LLC signed a contract to co-produce and distribute the show in the Middle East, yet they have failed to pay the $4.7 million to cover the costs. They subsequently filed a federal suit for breach of contract in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

RANDY JACKSON SUED: Randy Jackson and MTV are being sued by a man named Dwight McGhee who claims they ripped off his idea for a reality show about a dance crew. TMZ.com reports that McGhee claims to have pitched “International Breakerz League” to MTV back in 2004, which he claims it is “uncannily similar” to America’s Best Dance Crew. He’s seeking $2 million.

It was reported this week that CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric could be facing a potential pay cut due to the sluggish economy and low ratings. But Sean McManus, president of CBS News and Sports, tells The Politico, “I have not had any thought to change Katie’s role, Katie’s salary, anything to do with it.”

Still, Couric makes a hefty salary — more than $14 million a year, so with looming CBS layoffs in the works, rumor has it that CBS boss Les Moonves is mulling over scaling it back. According to the Drudge Report, network insiders say that resentment has been building in the newsroom with one veteran producer noting, “She makes enough to pay 200 news reporters $75,000 a year! It’s complete insanity. We report with great enthusiasm how much bankers are making, how it is out of step with reality during a recession. Well, look at Katie!”
