LINDSAY’S MOM CHAPERONING DEPOSITION? Lindsay Lohan’s mother is reportedly headed to Los Angeles to ensure that her daughter gives a deposition. Lindsay has twice blown off the scheduled sit-down relating to the lawsuit she’s facing for allegedly holding three men hostage in her car during a 2007 chase. TMZ claims that Dina Lohan is worried that her daughter, who is already broke, will face even more financial trouble if she doesn’t show for the deposition again.
MANDY MOORE GETS SPECIAL TREATMENT: Who knew Mandy Moore was such a diva? The New York Post reports that the singer/actress is receiving preferential treatment on the set of her new film Love, Wedding, Marriage. After complaining about her living arrangements during the New Orleans shoot, “Mandy got moved to the Ritz, but the rest of the cast — including names who are arguably bigger, such as Kellan Lutz and Jessica Szohr — were told to stick where they were.”
JOANNA KRUPA ENGAGED: Model Joanna Krupa is engaged. Usmagazine.com confirmed that the Dancing With the Stars alum will marry her longtime boyfriend, Miami club owner Romain Zago. An insider told US, “They got engaged like a month and a half ago. They’ve been together for 3 to 4 years.”
ALEXIS NEIERS CASE MOVES FORWARD: Pretty Wild star Alexis Neiers was in court on Monday (May 3rd), where a judge denied her attorney’s motion to suppress statements in next week’s trial that Neiers made to police during her arrest last fall. E! reports that Alexis’s team argued that police denied Neiers her Miranda Rights because she had told the interviewing officer that she wanted to talk to her lawyer. The judge determined that “It’s clear the defendant was Mirandized,” and dismissed the motion. Alexis is facing one count of felony burglary for allegedly breaking into actor Orlando Bloom’s home and could face a year in jail if she’s found guilty.
MARLEY SHELTON ARRESTED: Marley Shelton was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence. TMZ.com reported that the Sin City star was driving through Hollywood on Friday night when she was pulled over by cops, who administered a roadside sobriety test before taking her into custody. She posted $5,000 bail and was released the next morning.
HELEN WAGNER DIES: Helen Wagner, who played Nancy Hughes on As the World Turns for more than 50 years, died on Saturday (May 1st) at the age of 91. Wagner opened As the World Turns when it premiered on April 2, 1956, with the words: “Good morning, dear.” TeleNext Media says she held the Guinness World Record for playing the same role on television for the longest amount of time, 54 years. Her final appearance on the show aired April 5th, in an episode in which Julianne Moore returned for a guest walk-on. The episode was taped in March.
NBC GREENLIGHTS J.J. ABRAMS PILOT: NBC has picked up a new spy drama from Lost creator J.J. Abrams. EW.com reports that the network gave the green light to Undercovers, which stars Boris Kodjoe (Soul Food) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Doctor Who) as married ex-CIA agents who get pulled back into the spy business. The show will debut in the fall.
‘BREAKING DAWN’ ISN’T GETTING MUSICAL TREATMENT: Although he’s best known for the musical Dreamgirls, director Bill Condon promised fans that there won’t be any song and dance numbers in Breaking Dawn. Shortly after it was announced that Condon would be helming the last installment of the Twilight Saga, he wrote on Facebook, “No, there won’t be any musical numbers.” In his personal introduction to fans as the film’s director, Condon said, “I’m a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys.”
‘DAILY SHOW’ WRITERS HELPED OBAMA AT CORRESPONDENTS’ DINNER: President Obama reportedly had some help writing the popular zingers he delivered at the White House Correspondents’ dinner last weekend. The Daily Beast reports that Obama got some help from the writers of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Obama won rave reviews for his speech, which included jokes aimed at Jay Leno and The Jonas Brothers.
DIANE KRUGER LANDS NEW GIG: Diane Kruger is the face of Calvin Klein’s newest fragrance, Beauty. People magazine confirmed that the Inglorious Basterds star will appear in a series of print and television spots that will be seen around the world. The scent launches this fall.
Lynn Redgrave died on Sunday (May 2nd) at the age of 67. The actress, a member of Britain’s Redgrave dynasty, had been battling breast cancer since 2003.
Her children released a statement on Monday that read, “Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer. She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time.”
