MAROON 5 TO PLAY SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW?: Maroon 5 has reportedly been booked as the act for the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Variety said it confirmed the news with two sources. “The offer has been extended and they’ve pretty much accepted,” Us Weekly quoted an insider as saying. The NFL released a statement on the rumor, saying, “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show.” The statement continued, “We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.” The Super Bowl is set to take place on February 3rd in Atlanta, Georgia.
LEBRON JAMES CONFIRMED FOR ‘SPACE JAM 2’: LeBron James has confirmed reports he is set to star in a Space Jam sequel – taking over for Michael Jordan. Production is set to begin on Space Jam 2 next year with a release date yet to be announced. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed hints from James’ entertainment company that Ryan Coogler – the producer behind Marvel’s Black Panther – has signed on to bring the Warner Bros’ Looney Tunes concept to life again. Director Terence Nance has also agreed to run the show. The original Space Jam is the highest grossing basketball movie of all time and featured cameos of NBA stars at the time, such as Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing.
MAGICIAN SHIN LIM WINS ‘AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’: Magician Shin Lim was crowned the winner of America’s Got Talent’s 13th season last night, edging out acrobatic dance outfit Zurcaroh, who came in second place, and electric violinist Brian King Joseph. The 26-year-old becomes the second magician to win AGT, after Mat Franco, who took out the ninth season. Canada-born, Massachusetts-based Lim initially pursued piano, but changed career due to illness. He developed his sleight of hand talents from watching YouTube and has performed his routines around the world. A master of close-up magic, Lim collects $1 million and a headlining slot at the Paris Theater at Paris Las Vegas next month.
KELLY CLARKSON TALK SHOW SET: The Kelly Clarkson Show is set to debut in fall of 2019. The American Idol’s show will serve as the lead-in daytime to Ellen on NBC. It will replace Steve Harvey’s talker, Steve, which has been on the air for seven seasons. TBD what will happen to Steve.
