Cardi B took to Instagram on Monday (February 11th) and defended her Grammy win. In her rant, Cardi seemingly addressed those who have pit her against Nicki Minaj following her win for Best Rap Album for Invasion of Privacy. She said, [“It’s not my style for people to put other people down to uplift somebody else. That’s not my style and that’s not what I’m with and I don’t support that. However, I been talking a lot of sh*t today. I’m seeing a lot of bullsh*t today and I saw a lot of this sh*t last night, and I’m sick of this sh*t.”]
She continued, [“I work hard for my motherf**kin album. I remember last year when I didn’t win for ‘Bodak Yellow’ and everyone was like ‘Cardi got snubbed…’ Now this year’s a f**kin’ problem?! My album went two-times platinum, my n***a. And every chart that there was, my album was always top 10. No. 1 album as well. I f**king worked my a** off. Locked myself in the studio for three months, my n***a. Didn’t go to sleep in my own bed sometime for four days straight — pregnant! …While everybody was harassing me like, ‘You’re not gonna do it, we know you pregnant, your career’s over…’”]
Shortly after, Cardi shared a comment from Chance the Rapper, who praised her on the Grammy win. He wrote, “This is overly deserved, the album was front-to-back hits. It would be inconceivable not to honor u last night. So happy for you, u made history and brought ur husband onstage who I saw literally making phone calls and trips to make sure n***as did right by u and turned they verses in on time. Look Man U need to live in this moment for awhile! Straight up bask in it YOU deserve it. Its a feeling very few will ever know, but YOU do. Good bless see yall soon.”
Following Chance’s comment, Cardi said on Twitter, “I listen to my album and I cry because I know the hell I went thru doing the album is always a bittersweet memory. THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTED ME AND LISTEN .Im thankful and grateful and again thank you to all the artist that gave me a feature.”
Cardi has since deactivated her Instagram account.
JENNIFER LOPEZ RESPONDS TO MOTOWN PERFORMANCE CRITICISM FROM GRAMMYS – (02/12/2019)
Jennifer Lopez faced some backlash with some fans who were not happy that she was chosen to perform the Motown tribute at the 2019 Grammys without having a clear connection to the genre.
“The thing about music is that it inspires all. Any type of music can inspire any type of artist. You can’t tell people what to love. You can’t tell people what they can and can’t do, what they should sing or not sing. You gotta do what’s in your heart,” JLo told ET. She added that Grammys producers and Motown legend Berry Gordy were “thrilled” that she did the tribute.
“They know how much I have been influenced by that music and so it was a natural fit for them. But for some people, [it wasn’t], and that’s okay. I’m just very humbled and honored to be able to have sung those songs,” she added.
About the performance, Jennifer said, “It was for my mom. I could cry. It’s such a good moment. It’s just a dream come true.”
Smokey Robinson also came to Lopez’s defense before her performance. “Motown was music for everybody. Everybody,” Robinson told Variety at the Clive Davis pre-Grammys party. “Jennifer Lopez growing up in her Hispanic neighborhood where ever she was … loved Motown. Who’s stupid enough to protest Jennifer Lopez doing anything for Motown?”

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’S WASHINGTON STATE SHOW POSTPONED DUE TO WINTER WEATHER – (02/12/2019)
Justin Timberlake canceled his Sunday night show at the Tacoma Dome in Washington, following dangerous winter weather, including record levels of snow over the weekend.
The venue tweeted, “As a result of severe weather conditions in Washington state and further to Governor’s proclamation of a state of emergency relating to road closures and impacts to the transportation system resulting from the state wide storm, [concert promoter] Live Nation has confirmed that the Justin Timberlake Man Of The Woods concert… [on] Sunday, February 10th is postponed.” Live Nation advised fans to retain their tickets for a rescheduled date.
This was the second time that the Tacoma show has been postponed. JT was originally supposed to perform there in November, but had to cancel it due to his bruised vocal cords. It was one of more than a dozen shows that were rescheduled or postponed for that reason.
The Man of the Woods tour is current scheduled to run through April 13th in Connecticut.
