JUSTIN BIEBER CHALLENGES SHAWN MENDES TO HOCKEY MATCH FOR ‘PRINCE OF POP’ TITLE – (04/09/2019)
Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes are going head to head – but it’s all in good fun.
The Canadian pop stars started a mock war over Instagram Sunday after Mendes, 20, posted the cover for UK newspaper The Guardian’s weekly mag, The Observer, on which he’s dubbed the “Prince of Pop.”
Justin, naturally, jumped into the comments. Referring to the fact that both he and Shawn are Canadian, he wrote, “Hmm. Gonna have to break a few more records to dethrone my title there bud (canadian voice).”
He then continued, “but if you want, we can play hockey for it but i heard your[e] a real bender on the ice we could just drop the buckets and tilt for it.”
To which Shawn replied, “ “LOL any time any day you just let me know!!!!!!”
Fans immediately started arguing in the comments as to which singer is really the Prince of Pop, which led Justin to add, “There is no competition and it was a playful joke people relax.. there’s no sides we’re all just here to make dope music.”
“I’m just competitive as is he so it was just a little playful jargon,” Justin added.
SHAWN MENDES SAYS RUMORS ABOUT HIS SEXUALITY ARE ‘HURTFUL’ – (04/09/2019)
Shawn Mendes is speaking out again about rumors that have been swirling around about his sexuality for the past few years. The 20-year-old singer explained why he finds the rumors to be “hurtful.”
“For me it’s hurtful,” Shawn told The Guardian. “I get mad when people assume things about me because I imagine the people who don’t have the support system I have and how that must affect them.”
“That was why I was so angry, and you can see I still get riled up, because I don’t think people understand that when you come at me about something that’s stupid you hurt so many other people. They might not be speaking, but they’re listening,” he added.
Shawn also brought up his 2018 Rolling Stone cover story, in which he said, “I feel like I need to go be seen with someone – like a girl – in public, to prove to people that I’m not gay.”
The singer previously criticized the article and now he says, “It made me seem so creepy. If anything, the article made me realize your career isn’t over if people think you’re not perfect.”
Shawn also says he is tired of being put into a “wholesome” box. “Yeah, I am! It sounds so stupid – to be a nice person is the best thing in the world – but, yeah, I’m 20 and I just want to have fun,” he says. “What I don’t want to do is live the rest of my life thinking, ‘I wouldn’t do that because I’m known as Prince Charming.’”
Shawn adds, “The second that someone corners you into a personality, you don’t want to be that person anymore.”
Shawn is currently on tour in the U.K. On May 4th, he’ll be the musical guest on SNL.

A friend, you say? Tell us more! While she didn’t say anything else, and certainly didn’t reference Meghan Markle or Prince Harry by name, she and Meghan are BFFs and Serena helped throw her baby shower. … and the speculation quickly exploded.
Now, U.K. bookies are slashing the odds of Meghan giving birth to a girl from 8/13 to 4/7.
“Royal punters are looking for any slip-ups and Serena might just have given them one. We’re taking no chances and have slashed odds on a girl as a result,” Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati told People.
