ALEX TREBEK SHARES CANCER UPDATE: One year after being diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek posted a video update for his fans. After noting that the one-year survival rate for patients is 18%, Trebek said: “I’m very happy to report I have just reached that marker. Now, I’d be lying if I said the journey had been an easy one. There were some good days but a lot of not-so-good days. I joked with friends that the cancer won’t kill me, the chemo treatments will.” He added: “There were moments of great pain, days when certain bodily functions no longer functioned, and sudden, massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it really was worth fighting on.” Still: “If we take it just one day at a time with a positive attitude, anything is possible.” 

ADAM SANDLER TO RECEIVE FOUNDERS AWARD AS ASCAP: Adam Sandler is set to receive the ASCAP Founders Award at the 37th annual 2020 Pop Music Awards, which celebrates writers and publishers. The ceremony will take place on April 28th in L.A. The ASCAP Founders Award is presented to “songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators,” according to the organization. Sandler, whose music has always been a huge part of his stand-up career, follows a long line of honorees, including Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty and Dr. Dre. ASCAP cited “From “Opera Man” to “The Chanukah Song” to “Grow Old With You,” as highlights of his comedic musical hits. 

LADY GAGA REACTS TO VIRAL VIDEO OF ‘STUPID LOVE’ INTERRUPTING CORONAVIRUS MEETING Lady Gaga has responded after video footage of her new single “Stupid Love” interrupting a coronavirus crisis meeting went viral. The serious meeting was suddenly interrupted when somebody’s cellphone began playing the hit, giving gave everyone a laugh and offering a moment of levity during a time of uncertainty. Gaga saw the video on Twitter and posted, “and this is why I make music.”

PRINCES TO MEET: Prince Harry and Prince William are planning to meet and settle differences over their rumored feud, The Blast reports. Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping down from their royal duties at the end of the month and will split their time between North America and the U.K. (The Blast

THE WEEKND BREAKS DOWN IN ‘AFTER HOURS’ SHORT FILM – (03/05/2020)

The Weeknd has shared a short film called After Hours, which precedes his upcoming album of the same name.

The video begins at the end of the musician’s recent performance of “Blinding Lights” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and follows him through the corridors of the TV studio and out onto the streets of LA. After a series of unsettling scenes, The Weeknd is seemingly suffering from a head injury and finds himself in a delirious state. The video ends with a menacing scene of The Weeknd in an elevator with a young couple, who don’t appear to have survived the ride.

After Hours, due March 20th, is the follow-up to 2016’s Starboy. It has already spawned hits “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights.”

The Weeknd will kick off his After Hours Tour on June 11. The 62-date global trek will travel to the U.S., Canada, U.K., Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, and France with support from Sabrina Claudio and Don Toliver in the U.S. and 88GLAM and Claudio in Europe. Additional shows have been added in London, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Miami.

The Weeknd will return to SNL as musical guest on Saturday.

NIALL HORAN COVERS TAYLOR SWIFT’S ‘LOVER’ – (03/05/2020)

Niall Horan has released a recording of his cover of Taylor Swift’s “Lover” for Spotify Singles featuring labelmate Fletcher.

Swift gave the cover her stamp of approval on social media following its release. “This is absolutely STUNNING,” she wrote, sharing the track on her Instagram Story. “@niallhoran & @findingxfletcher LOVE YOU GUYS.”

Horan also recorded a new version of his single “No Judgement,” which appears on his upcoming sophomore album Heartbreak Weather, due out March 13th.

Fletcher and Lewis Capaldi will open for Horan on his Nice to Meet Ya North American tour, which launches on April 20th.
