In a new interview on Nick Cannon’s Cannon’s Class, Kanye West slammed rumors that he is being backed by Republicans to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s chances in the November election.
Ye said, “People keep on saying, ‘I think that y’all — you and Republicans — are in cahoots.” Cannon chimed in, “They’re saying that they are paying you to do what you’re doing, to be a distraction.”
Ye added, “Bro, can’t nobody pay me. I’ve got more money than Trump.”
In other news, Kanye and sister-in-law Kylie Jenner have topped the world’s highest paid celebrities list on Forbes. Kylie came in at number one with $590 million and Kanye came in second with $170 million.
ARIANA GRANDE BECOMES FIRST WOMAN TO HIT 200 MILLION INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS: Ariana Grande has become the first woman ever to reach 200 million followers on Instagram. The new milestone comes after Ariana dethroned Selena Gomez last year as the most-followed woman on Instagram. Back then, she inched out Selena’s 146,267,801 followers by about 20,000. Currently, Selena is the third most-followed woman on Instagram with 190 million followers: Kylie Jenner replaced her in second place with 193 million. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the most-followed person on Instagram, with 237 million.
ADELE SLAMMED FOR WEARING BANTU KNOTS, A JAMAICAN FLAG BIKINI TOP – (09/01/2020)
Adele caused a stir on social media Sunday after posting a picture of herself on Instagram wearing Bantu knots, a Jamaican flag bikini top and other carnival wear popular in Afro-Caribbean cultures.
“Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London,” the singer wrote in her caption, referring to the second largest carnival in the world, which usually takes place around this time in the streets of west London.
In her post, Adele wore the traditional African hairstyle and bikini top in tribute to the carnival, which celebrates Caribbean culture and interracial tolerance. The singer was quickly accused of cultural appropriation by some users for the hairstyle and top.
Among her supporters was Nigeria-born singer May7ven, known as the “Queen of UK Afrobeats,” who tweeted: “Big difference between Cultural Appreciation & Cultural Appropriation/misappropriation. THIS IS APPRECIATION! @Adele grew up in Tottenham,” a working-class, multiethnic London district more than 30% Black and mixed-race, according to the 2011 U.K. census, “& has been celebrating with us her entire life unapologetically, publicly & privately.”
