Feel Good Story of the Week: Student Gives Away His College Savings
Joshua Nelson landed a scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University. Now, he’s paying it forward by giving away his college savings. Nelson, a senior at St. Charles West High School, is one of only five students selected for the prestigious President’s Scholarship at the university. It’s a full four-year scholarship for tuition and board. With that out of the way, Nelson used the money he had saved for college to create the Joshua Nelson Leaders in Action Scholarship, which aims “to help multicultural students who are showing leadership, community service and just have great qualities in and out of the classroom.” Local matching donations are being sought so that more students can benefit.
