‘FROZEN 2’ CROSSES $800M GLOBALLY – (12/09/2019)
The animated Playmobil has been iced by Disney’s Frozen 2. The Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel toplined sequel crossed the $800 million mark globally this weekend, bringing in $34.7 million at the box office domestically this weekend.
Industry observers expect Frozen 2 to exceed the $1 billion mark in 2019, making it Disney’s sixth to do so this year.
Knives Out, in its second week out, earned a promising $14.2 million for Lionsgate.
The only other major new release of the weekend, Playmobil, tanked with about $811,000 in box office receipts. The film is based on a chain of German building toys and features a voice cast Anya Taylor-Joy, Jim Gaffigan, Gabriel Bateman, Adam Lambert, Kenan Thompson, Meghan Trainor and Daniel Radcliffe.
