The 19th Annual Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services “Food” Drive is Tomorrow, November 18th, 2020!

Now in it’s 19th year, the Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services Annual Food Drive showcases what living in the Mount Washington Valley is all about – community, goodwill, and service.  Once again held at the First Church of Christ in North Conway, this one-day, 12-hour event helps collect donations for area food pantries benefiting those in need during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year. Many different pantries in the Greater Mount Washington Valley will see these donations from the drive helping those less fortunate in their communities.

HOWEVER, due to COVID-19, we CANNOT ACCEPT FOOD DONATIONS OR FROZEN TURKEYS. Vaughan is currently working with all the Local Food Pantries to be able to get their food through donation and being able to buy food from the New Hampshire Food Bank. The money can go up to two or three times further for them when they buy food from the Food Bank and it will keep our communities SAFE.

As always, Magic 104 will still be broadcasting LIVE the entire day with a ton of help from our sponsors!

It will be a DRIVE THRU Event and volunteers will be outside ready to accept your generous CASH or CHECK donation. Thank you for understanding and keeping our community safe.

Special Thanks to ALL of our sponsors this year – who have answered the call of those in their community that are in need. Make sure you visit and shop with them this Holiday Season!

North Conway, NH – Once one of the quieter months, November has grown to be one of the busiest times of year in Mt. Washington Valley.  With more than twenty years of legacy behind the Harvest to Holidays promotion and Settlers Green – Bring A Friend extravaganza, shoppers now rest up for what amounts to aerobic tax-free shopping excursions at Mt. Washington Valley’s 200 outlets, shops, boutiques and stores.  The history of how November has grown into one of the Valley’s busiest months of the year is an interesting collaboration between the chamber, the lodging community, Settlers Green and more recently, the White Mountain Independents – a network of independently owned Mt Washington Valley stores. Read more about that here.

While November 2020 will be presented with respect given to social distancing and masks required, stores will still open their doors with offers and plenty of  hand sanitizer for excited shoppers.  Come prepared with lists of gifts for that hard-to-shop-for relative, and plenty of stamina to visit as many stores as possible.  Here’s how Mt Washington Valley’s shop-a-thon will occur this November.

November 6th-15th, 2020: Bring A Friend Weekend at Settlers Green

Celebrating its 20th anniversary with several modifications to reduce crowding and follow all New Hampshire health and safety guidelines, the Bring A Friend show will go on with an extensive array of shopping fun.

Activities will be spread out from November 6th-15th, 2020, giving shoppers plenty of time to get in on all the offers. Traditionally an event that gathers thousands of anxious shoppers, the standard shopping bag giveaway (which traditionally happens on Saturday) will not happen. Instead, Settlers Green has partnered with local hotels and accommodations and you can get a standard goodie bag by booking a shopping package with participating lodging properties.  See participating hotels here. The 500 premium bags sold out earlier in the fall.

Bring A Friend means deals galore.  Shopper can pick up wristbands outside of Customer Service daily during the event, while supplies last. Show your wristband at stores with red wristband signs in the window for special savings.  In addition, Coupon books will be available to all shoppers during the event. Shoppers are invited to download a digital coupon book to your phones for paperless deals.

All shoppers planning to attend the event should visit Settlers Green COVID-19 page for more specific details about shopping hours, expectations and policies.

Live entertainment, photo contests, movies, and radio promotions will take place throughout the Bring a Friend weekend. For complete information, lodging packages, entertainment schedules, discount info and more, go to https://www.settlersgreen.com/events/bring-a-friend.

November 27: Black Friday – Shop at Settlers Green from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and get special Black Friday deals.  Black Friday sales typically begin the week of Thanksgiving and run through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, and vary from store to store. In addition to in-store sales, download a Digital Coupon Book or pick up a hard copy at Customer Service. Info: https://www.settlersgreen.com/calendar/20/276-Black-Friday.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Democrats dominated nearly all the top races Tuesday in New Hampshire, where voters reelected a U.S. senator and both House members and backed Joe Biden for president. The only bright spot for Republicans was in the governor’s race, where Gov. Chris Sununu defeated Democrat Dan Feltes to win a third term. Also winning a third term was Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who defeated Republican Corky Messner. In the House, 1st District Rep. Chris Pappas defeated Republican Matt Mowers to win a second term, and Rep. Annie Kuster defeated Republican Steve Negron to win a fifth term in the 2nd District.

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. (AP) — Two tiny New Hampshire communities that vote for president just after the stroke of midnight on Election Day have cast their ballots, with one of them marking 60 years since the tradition began. The results in Dixville Notch, near the Canadian border, were a sweep for former Vice President Joe Biden who won the town’s five votes. In Millsfield, 12 miles to the south, President Donald Trump won 16 votes to Biden’s five. Normally, in Dixville, town moderator Tom Tillotson says there would be a big food spread and media crammed into a small space to watch the voting. But that’s not possible because of the coronavirus pandemic. A third town, Hart’s Location, suspended midnight voting this time because of coronavirus concerns.
