Box Office Recap – 03/16/2020

BOX OFFICE PLUNGES TO 22-YEAR LOW WITH JUST $55M IN RECEIPTS – (03/16/2020)

Around 109 movie theaters shut down this weekend in New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Boston and Seattle over coronavirus fears, and the ones that were open didn’t do a brisk business. All told, Comscore is calling the weekend $55.3 million, a 22 year low, and down 45% from last weekend and 60% a year ago. 

“The circuits are doing a phenomenal job of being respectful to local government ordinances while at the same time trying to serve the community,” Universal domestic distribution boss Jim Orr told Deadline.

Disney’s Onward, with Tom Holland and Chris Pratt providing the voices, topped the box office with $10.5 million, and Lionsgate’s I Still Believe managed just $9.5 million.

Anya Nicoll from MWV Girl Scouts Troop 10615 wins BIG on The Magic Morning Show! – 03/13/2020

Mount Washington Valley Girl Scouts Troop 10615 joined Gino on the Magic Morning Show today to play a game called “Smart Cookie” and to talk about what they have been up to this past year. Troop Leader Melissa Florio and 16 year old Girl Scout Anya Nicoll from Freedom, NH came as representatives for Troop 10615 and had a great time with Gino.

Melissa and Anya let us know where all the “cookie money” goes when they sell cookies and explained that their Booth Sale Days are over for this year but each girl is still selling individually to anyone who is still interested. Melissa also explained that not every Girl Scout Troop you see out and about may necessarily be from this area, so to assure you are helping out your local Girl Scout Troops, digital sales is a very nice way to go. Attitash Race League – Week 8 – 03/11/2020

The 13th Annual CHaD Battle of The Badges – Friday, March 13th

***There has been a major change to the Battle of The Badges event due to precautions over the COVID-19 outbreak. Read the official statement here.***

The 13th Annual CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Championship is a big hockey game between New Hampshire’s Police and Fire Departments with all proceeds going to an amazing cause. The game goes down March 13th at 7pm in Manchester, NH at the SNHU Arena. 

The proceeds will be used to help kids at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock with critical services such as support when they are in pediatric intensive care and management of chronic illnesses. Funds also provide for family support services that are so important to the well-being of kids. To learn more about the impact your donation can have for ChaD kids, go to CHADKIDS.org

Representing the Mount Washington Valley in this game will be Conway Fire Department’s Garrett Meador and Conway Police Department’s Ricky Gaudreau.
