TAYLOR SWIFT FANS THINK NEW ‘KILLING EVE’ COVER IS HER GETTING BACK AT SCOOTER BRAUN – (05/26/2020)

Taylor Swift has shared a mysterious new cover of her track “Look What You Made Me Do,” which appeared on the latest episode of Killing Eve.

The version that appears on the BBC drama is being interpreted by fans as a way to get back at her rival and Big Machine label boss Scooter Braun. The version of the Reputation track is attributed to Jack Leopards and The Dolphin Club, a seemingly fake band or artist with no previous song credits. Fans speculate that the vocals on the song belong to Swift’s brother Austin, who once named his Twitter account “The Dolphin Club.”

A producer credit on the song is also given to Nils Sjoberg, Swift’s songwriting pseudonym.

Further cementing the secret credits for the song: a report published in February that had Swift approaching Killing Eve executive producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the Golden Globes in January to ask if Austin could sing on the show’s soundtrack. The Swift siblings and Antonoff had been photographed together in a studio late last year, leading to fan speculation that the track might have already been recorded by the time Swift reportedly put in the request with Waller-Bridge.

Fans think Swift recorded the song with her brother in order to avoid Braun and Big Machine from claiming any royalties from the song’s use on the show.

Swift has been open about her issues with Braun in the past, as well as her quest to get the full rights to her first six albums.

Drake wrote on Instagram, “A song that Mark ran last night on night owl sound set shouldn’t have been played. It’s a song that leaked 3 years ago and got scrapped shortly after.” He added, “Last thing I’d want to do is wake up having any friends of mine feeling disrespected so I just had to say that to start off the day.”

THE REAL REASON OLIVIER SARKOZY AND MARY-KATE OLSEN SPLIT? – (05/22/2020)

Many fans called out the generational divide when the 50-year-old Olivier Sarkozy and 33-year-old Mary-Kate Olsen got married five years ago. And judging from the latest reports on their split, they may have been onto something.

A source tells People that Sarkozy wanted a “stay-at-home wife.”

LOL? Mary-Kate and her twin Ashley, as fans will doubtless recall, have been working since before they could crawl. The pair played Michelle Tanner on Full House, and as adults launched fashion lines The Row and Elizabeth and James. All told, the pair are worth $500 million.

The source says: “Mary-Kate is extremely hard working and focused on her business. Her work schedule is beyond disciplined. She is the type of person who would never complain about a 12 hour work day. Olivier never understood her drive and passion.”

The insider adds: “You can’t control a girl who has been on the billionaire track since her 20s.”

On April 17, Olsen filed divorce papers, and then on May 13th, she requested an emergency order to file for divorce. The judge rejected her order.

Aside from the new song “Level Of Concern,” Dun and bandmate Tyler Joseph have been working on music for their next album.

BILLBOARD RESPONDS TO TEKASHI 6IX9INE’S ALLEGATIONS THAT JUSTIN BIEBER & ARIANA GRANDE BOUGHT THEIR NO. 1 SPOT – (05/20/2020)

Billboard has responded to Tekashi 6ix9ine’s allegations that Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber bought their way to the top with their new song, “Stuck With U,” while his song “Gooba” landed at No. 3.

Billboard said, “‘Stuck With U’ was available to purchase through the week as a digital download, as well as in various physical format/digital download combinations through Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s webstores. The sales spike is likely referring to sales on Thursday, May 14 – the final day of the tracking week – when signed ‘Stuck With U’ singles were put up for sale in Grande and Bieber’s webstores. A signed single or album is an accepted form of sales available to any artist and has been noted repeatedly within Billboard chart stories when such items have impacted the Hot 100. 6ix9ine, meanwhile, released a non-signed CD single/digital download on the last day of the tracking week via his webstore.”

They added, “‘Stuck With U’ drew 28.1 million U.S. streams, 26.3 million in radio airplay audience and 108,000 sold in the tracking week. ‘Gooba’ had 55.3 million U.S. streams, 172,000 in radio airplay audience and 24,000 sold. Those sums resulted in the songs’ respective rankings on this week’s Hot 100.

Billboard has since allegedly removed all of the rapper’s chart history.

ARIANA GRANDE AND JUSTIN BIEBER’S ‘STUCK WITH U’ DEBUTS AT NO. 1; 6IX9INE ACCUSES BILLBOARD OF CHEATING – (05/19/2020)

Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s new duet for COVID-19 relief, “Stuck With U,” has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It marks both Ariana and Justin’s third No. 1 debut on the chart. They join Mariah Carey and Drake as the only artists with that many No. 1 debuts. Ariana has three chart leaders overall now, while Justin has six.

All net proceeds from the streams and sales of “Stuck with U” and its videos will be donated to First Responders Children’s Foundation to fund grants and scholarships for children of healthcare workers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, police officers, firefighters and other front line workers.

Meanwhile, rapper 6ix9ine shared a video accusing Billboard of cheating after his song “Gooba” debuted at No. 3. He accuses Ariana and Justin’s team of buying plays and downloads for “Stuck With U.”

“Last Thursday, Ariana’s ‘Stuck with U’ submitted 60,000 units last second,” he claimed, saying that his team had done an “investigation” into the matter. “They purchased half of those things with six credit cards. When we asked where were those six credit cards linked to, Billboard said, ‘We can’t disclose that information’.”

Tekashi went on to also allege that Billboard “illegally disqualified 20 million streams” of his post-prison track so that “the people who bought the No. 1 – which was ‘Stuck with U’ – can go to No. 1.”

Grande responded to the allegations on her own Instagram, writing: “anyone who knows me or has followed me for a while knows that numbers aren’t the driving force in anything i do. i’m grateful to sing. grateful to have people who want to listen. grateful to even be here at all. i didn’t have a number one for the first five years of my career and it didn’t upset me at all because from the bottom of my heart, music is everything to me.”

Thanking her fans for their continual support, she continued, “so with this celebration today, i would like to address a few things which i don’t usually do (i don’t give my energy to drama or strange accusations normally but this has gone a little too far)…my fans bought the song. JUSTIN’S fans bought the song. OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE).”

While she didn’t specifically name Tekashi, Grande noted “only the women for some reason” were singled out in the accusation and asked her accuser “to take a moment to humble yourself. be grateful you’re even here. that people want to listen to u at all. it’s a blessed position to be in.”

“i’ve had a lot of ‘almost number ones’ in my career and i never said a goddamn thing because I FEEL GRATEFUL TO EVEN BE HERE. TO WANT TO BE HEARD AT ALL …. and you should feel that way too,” she added. “congratulations to all my talented ass peers in the top ten this week. even number 3.”

Tekashi later defended himself in another Instagram post, writing, “All I’m saying is I worked super hard to make it out of Brooklyn NY. I speak for the millions of kids who aren’t as fortunate as you.”

Alongside a video of himself comparing his upbringing with Grande’s childhood acting career on Nickelodeon shows, he captioned, “LIFE is REAL when you’re on welfare LIFE is REAL when you grow up with out a father. You don’t know what that is like. You say for me to be humble …. I don’t think you know what humble is………. YOU ARE VERY TALENTED AND BEAUTIFUL GOD BLESS YOU. But you will NEVER UNDERSTAND MY PAIN 💯.”

However, Bieber, 26, broke down why Tekashi may have lost out on the top spot when he denied the cheating accusations on his Instagram Story, explaining that the number the rapper was referring to was his global streams and “this is a domestic chart so only domestic streams count.” The singer also argued that the 60,000 units Tekashi claimed had been submitted last minute “came because we don’t disclose our numbers until end of week. That’s called strategy.”

“He said 30k was bought with 6 credit cards but that is a lie. The rules are clear one credit card can buy max 4 copies. Anything over that the entire amount is thrown out,” he continued. “Nielsen company checks this and found all our sales were legit because our fans are amazing and bought them. Don’t discredit our fan base with false info.”

Bieber added that he’s “honored” to have worked with Grande, writing, “If you gonna say her name make sure you say mine because it’s our song.”

The live stream included performances by the Lumineers, OneRepublic, Jewel, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Isaac Slade of The Fray, plus video messages from legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, two-time Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin, current Colorado Governor Jared Polis and others.

Lumineers frontman Wesley Schultz said, “Proud to call Colorado my home for the last 10 years, and so grateful to every person who tuned in and donated. Thank you to all the Colorado-based musicians, athletes, politicians, and chefs who took part in this fundraiser and special thanks to Spotify and MusiCares. With your help we came together to see that Colorado Gives Back.”

The event is still viewable on YouTube and the link to donate is still active. In addition, T-shirts commemorating Colorado Gives Back are available for purchase with all profits going to the two Colorado Gives Back charities.
