ARIANA GRANDE REMIXES ‘7 RINGS’ LYRICS TO BE ABOUT SELF-CARE DURING QUARANTINE – (04/13/2020)

Ariana Grande has taken her hit “7 rings” and changed the lyrics to be a little bit more relevant to what many people are doing amid the COVID-19 pandemic – practicing self-care.

Alongside instructions to sing the new tune “to the melody of ‘my favorite things’ written by Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rodgers,” she shared the new lines. “Hair masks and hot baths and exfoliation, zoom chats and board games, guided meditations learning to beat my own face decently these are some steps of my quaran(rou)tine,” the post reads. “check!!! on the hoooomies hit me if ya looooneley,” the updated lyrics continued.

Additional steps included checking in with friends and repeating the routine when she started to feel sad. She also wrote that she reached out to friends when she was in need of an emotional boost, too.

Ariana challenged her fans and friends to come up with their own version.

KELLY CLARKSON DONATING 25% OF PROFITS FROM HER NEW HOME COLLECTION TO COVID-19 RELIEF – (04/13/2020)

Kelly Clarkson has launched her new home collection with Wayfair, and helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kelly explains, “We kind of thought, well, we’re all stuck in our home, so like, what better time to maybe look at your house and go, ‘What could make me happier in this moment?’“ She added, “And I just thought it would be cool too, to release this…because we’ve decided that 25 percent of the profits of the Kelly home collection line – until I think April 17th – we’re going to donate 25 percent of the profits to COVID-19 relief efforts.”

The Kelly Clarkson Home debut features 550 affordable pieces inspired by French Country-style furniture and decor. It comes complete with essentials for the living room, dining room, bedroom, home office, as well as textiles, decor and lighting.

Later in the year, Wayfair is set to release the second part of Kelly Clarkson Home, which will include 1,500 additional designs offering a greater range of aesthetics and even more accessible price points.

Kelly’s new single “I Dare You” comes out April 16th. Kelly also voices a character in the new movie Trolls World Tour, out now for home rental.

Kylie Jenner and her momager Kris are delivering hand sanitizer to healthcare workers and first responders in California, Page Six reports. The pair teamed up with Coty—a majority stakeholder in Kylie Cosmetics—to make sanitizer for those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

RIHANNA’S DAD WAS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19 – (04/10/2020)

Rihanna‘s dad Ronald Fenty tested positive for coronavirus and revealed that his daughter sent him a ventilator. He told The Sun, “My daughter Robyn was checking in on me every day. I thought I was going to die to be honest. I have to say, I love you so much, Robyn. She did so much for me. I appreciate everything she has done.” 

Rihanna also donated over $700,000 worth of ventilators in her home country. After spending 14 days in an isolation center, Ronald was declared virus-free and is now back in his Barbados home. 

Mr. Fenty stressed the severity of the illness, saying, “I want everybody to stay home. This is a serious situation. More serious than people realize. Please stay home.”

Ronald is one of over 50 coronavirus cases in Barbados, with three deaths reported so far.

HALSEY BUYS 100,000 MASKS FOR HOSPITALS AMID PANDEMIC – (04/10/2020)

Halsey has purchased 100,000 masks to be donated to medical professionals and staff amid the ongoing global health crisis.

“I am beyond privileged to be self isolating in my home, without the fear and obligation of essential work employment. Without a sick family member to care for. A child to feed. A financial crisis to navigate. So I tried to find a real way to make a difference,” she wrote on Instagram.

She said the masks “will be distributed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Providence Saint Joseph, LAC+USC Medical Center, and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital; for the medical professionals and non medical hospital staff who are working to put a stop to this pandemic and help millions of strangers they will never meet.”

Halsey pointed to their heroism for “working to put a stop to this pandemic and help millions of strangers they will never meet” and urged people to donate to GiveDirectly, which helps low-income families.

“Please continue to stay home, if you can,” she said, echoing the calls from medical experts and governments alike to social distance. “If you are on the frontlines, my heart is with you. And I will be continuing the fight to help you get the support and resources you need.”

CAMILA CABELLO AND SHAWN MENDES SURPRISE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL WITH VIRTUAL VISIT – (04/10/2020)

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes surprised patients at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. with a virtual visit Tuesday, chatting with some young fans individually and answering their questions.

Camila posted a series of photos and videos from the visit. In one clip, Camila and Shawn encourage a girl who is shy about singing. In another, a young fan asks Camila about her creative process, and in yet another, two young girls show off their dance moves.

One video, posted by the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, shows a fan asking Camila how fun is it to be quarantined with Shawn. “It’s the most fun,” Shawn answered for her, and she agreed. “He made broccoli eggs today,” she said. “Have you ever heard of broccoli eggs? It sounds terrible, but it tasted great.”

Seacrest also raved over the visit on his personal account writing, “Just when the kids thought their video call with @Camila_Cabello couldn’t get any better, @ShawnMendes enters the chat. Thank you both for hanging out and pulling off this surprise.”

Mendes and Cabello revealed they were social distancing together last month when they put on an Instagram Live concert for Global Citizen’s “Together at Home” series.

LADY GAGA CALLS ON ‘TECH ROCK STARS’ FOR THEIR COVID-19 SOLUTIONS – (04/09/2020)

Lady Gaga is calling on “Tech Rock Stars” to come together and build a solution to shut down COVID-19.

In a video message created in partnership with the 2020 IBM Call for Code Global Challenge, Gaga said: “We need you right now during COVID-19 more than ever: your time, your talent, to use technology and data to change the world before the world changes us.” “…So I’m asking you to answer the call, build a solution that fights back, that saves lives…I may have the voice but you’re the tech rock stars.”

As part of the challenge, developers are being asked to submit solutions with a focus on three areas: crisis communications, ways to improve remote learning and how to inspire cooperative local communities. The deadline for submissions is April 27th and the winning solutions will be chosen by May 5th, with deployment beginning May 15th.

Prior to her Call for Code appeal, Lady Gaga made the late night talk show rounds to promote another coronavirus effort: the Global Citizen/World Health Organization One World: Together at Home concert. Gaga, who helped curate the event, is one of several superstars who will be part of the April 18th show, which will also include appearances from Lizzo, Paul McCartney, Elton John, J Balvin, Kacey Musgraves and many more.

Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert will serve as hosts for the special, which will air on each of their respective networks, NBC, ABC and CBS, as well as several others channels and streaming services.

Tyler Perry is delivery really good news amid the coronavirus pandemic. The TV and film mogul has paid all of the grocery bills for elderly shoppers at 44 Kroger stores in Atlanta, Georgia, his hometown state, as well as 29 Winn Dixie stores in his native New Orleans, People reports. Perry is pulling it off by settling the stores’ tabs during the hour reserved for older customers during the pandemic.

This latest act of kindness comes after Perry ponied up $21,000 in tips for workers at an Atlanta restaurant while picking up takeout. Perry is famous for helping out people in need, from covering layaways at Walmart at Christmas to paying strangers’ medical bills.

BRITNEY SPEARS GIVES ‘HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME’ A COVID-19 REWRITE – (04/09/2020)

Britney Spears is reminding the public why it’s important to self-isolate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 38-year-old took to Instagram to share updated lyrics of her debut single “Hit Me Baby One More Time.”

The graphic includes a caricature of Britney from her 1998 music video from illustrator Patricia Urrutia holding a bottle of Purell, the rewritten lyrics cross out “killing me” in a big red X and instead reads “My loneliness is SAVING ME!” In the right hand corner, she also inserted the hashtag “#STAYHOME” in bold black letters.

“Enough said,” captioned Britney, who also used her post to celebrate World Health Day, adding: “and thank you to all of the healthcare workers tirelessly working to keep us safe during this time !!!!”

Last week, Spears shared another post thanking essential workers amid the crisis, including grocery store clerks, medical professionals, restaurant workers, truck drivers, warehouse and sanitation workers, farmers and “generous neighbors.”

Earlier last month, the singer said that she would be donating supplies to three fans in need as part of the “Do Your Part Challenge” that many celebrities participated in.

Lady Gaga is talking about the upcoming special One World: Together at Home, airing April 18th.

Gaga teamed up with Global Citizen and the World Health Organization to curate the two-hour special, which she says will not be a fundraising event.

Gaga chatted with one of the three event hosts, Jimmy Kimmel, on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live. She explained: “The money will actually be raised before the special and we will not ask you for money during the special for a lot of reasons, mostly because we’re very cognizant of the fact that unemployment is rising and also that people are having a very hard time feeding their children. We want everyone to enjoy this show.”

Gaga said she has already raised $35 million by reaching out to corporations and philanthropists and she isn’t finished yet.

Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared in a “surprise” Facetime phone call with Gaga on the show. His appearance was part of a planned announcement: Apple is donating $10 million to the One World: Together at Home event.

The show airs April 18th on CBS, NBC, and ABC, and a multitude of other TV and streaming platforms. Taylor Swift surprised a longtime fan and college student with $3,000.

Jess Buslewicz, a sophomore at Smith College in Massachusetts, had to return home to Connecticut due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus. She lost her job as an on-campus tour guide and her babysitting job, both of which helped pay for her school books and tuition. Her mother has also lost much of her work as a travel agent.

Buslewicz, a massive Swift fan since the age of 7, has runs a blog on Tumblr dedicated to the singer, and turned to it amid the pandemic. She said, “One day I was sitting on the couch and I got a PayPal notification that there was $3,000 in my account!” adding, “There’s a little message with it and at the end she said, ‘p.s. it may be April 1st but this is not an April Fools joke!’ and without that little addendum I think I would’ve been a lot more nervous that it was a joke.”

“I’m pretty sure I blacked out for like I remember seeing the notification and then the next five minutes. I have no recollection,” Buslewicz told Page Six.

“Jess, I saw your post about everything you’re going through, I’m sorry you lost your campus job. I can see that this situation has caused you intense anxiety and I hope this gift of $3,000 will help and that you and your mom are healthy and safe. Sending you hugs, Taylor,” the singer wrote in the message section, according to a screenshot Buslewicz posted.

JONAS BROTHERS SEND SWEET VIDEO MESSAGES TO MAKE-A-WISH KIDS – (04/08/2020)

The Jonas Brothers are not able to visit the sick children they planned to meet via the Make-a-Wish Foundation right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so they are sending greetings virtually.

In an Instagram post, Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas send their love and good wishes to the kids.

“We know a lot of these wishes have been canceled with everything that has been going on, but we just hope you know that you are loved and we think you guys are the greatest,” Kevin said.

Brother Nick then offered his words of advice. “I know these are tough times, confusing times, but I think the thing that’s helping me through it – and maybe this will help all of you – is I’ve been spending some time just writing,” he shared. “It could be in a journal, it could be a short story or a poem or a song. Whatever brings you happiness, that’s the thing to focus on right now.”

Joe added: “I hope this video brings you some joy like all the Make-a-Wish kids bring me and my brothers so much joy when we get to meet you.”

Pink announced that she and her son have recovered from the coronavirus and she donated $1 million to organizations helping other people affected by the pandemic.

She gifted $500,000 each to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia and City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.

“It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible,” she wrote in her post Friday. “This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities,” she said. “THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes! These next two weeks are crucial: please stay home. Please. Stay. Home.”

The message accompanied a photo of Pink with her 3-year-old son, Jameson. They were both tested for the virus two weeks ago after they experienced symptoms. Pink said she tested positive, but Jameson did not. They were both recently re-tested and were both negative.

Pink and Jameson, each became “really, really sick,” she said Saturday during a live video chat with author Jen Pastiloff.

“There were many nights when I’ve cried and I’ve never prayed more in my life,” Pink said during a social media livestream. “It’s funny, it’s like, at one point, I heard myself saying, ‘I thought they promised us our kids would be OK.’ It’s not guaranteed. There is no one that is safe from this.”

Pink said she’s battled asthma throughout her life, and that she used Nebulizers, which are a form of breathing therapy, during her fight with coronavirus.

CARDI B DONATES TO NYC MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AMID CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC – (04/06/2020)

Cardi B has made a generous donation to medical professionals in New York City amid the coronavirus pandemic. 

According to Page Six, the Bronx born rapper donated 20,000 bottles of Owyn, a plant based vegan meal supplement drink to hospitals around the city. 

Cardi decided to donate Owyn to provide sustenance for medical staffers and ambulance crews who are still busy to have a proper meal during their busy shifts.

FALL OUT BOY TO HELP IN PANDEMIC RELIEF EFFORTS – (04/06/2020)

The members of Fall Out Boy are focused on helping with pandemic relief. They’re donating $100,000 to their home city of Chicago. The money will go to the Chicago Community Covid-19 Response Fund.

In a statement on their social media, they explained, “Chicago is the city that we grew up in. It’s important to us that we give back and support the community and local heroes who are on the front lines any way we can. No act of kindness is too small right now.”

They went on to explain that the money will help support the local food banks, direct monetary support for those who have suffered loss of income and jobs as a result of COVID-19.

The band is scheduled to go on tour with Green Day in June, and as of now the tour has not been postponed.

LOGAN WILLIAMS DIES AT 16: Logan Williams, best known for his role as Barry Allen on CW’s The Flash has died at age 16. No official cause of death was revealed but according Canada’s TriCity News, the British Columbia-born actor’s mother Marlyse Williams said his family is “absolutely devastated” by his passing, adding that because of social distancing regulations, “I am not able to hug my parents who lost their only grandchild.” 

HBO OPENS FREE BUFFET: HBO has made good on its promise to open up its doors for free to viewers on Friday. Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey and Laurene Powell Jobs are partnering on a multi-million fund to help those most affected by COVID-19. DiCaprio and Powell Jobs each donated $5 million, Apple donated $5 million, and Winfrey and the Ford Foundation donated $1 million apiece. 

Dubbed America’s Food Fund, it will work jointly with established food relief nonprofits World Central Kitchen and Feeding America

In a statement, DiCaprio said: “In the face of this crisis, organizations like World Central Kitchen and Feeding America have inspired us all with their unwavering commitment to feed the most vulnerable people in need. I thank them for their tireless work on the frontlines, they deserve all of our support.” 

 In a statement Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America said: “Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, 37 million people in this country did not have consistent access to nutritious meals—including 11 million children and 5.5 million seniors. These numbers are quickly rising, and it is critical that we rally together as a nation to support our neighbors during this time of great need.”

The Fund launched a GoFundMe page that explained its ethos:  “In neighborhoods and communities around the country, hunger is an issue that people, including families and children, face every day. Our most vulnerable populations — children who are out of school and rely on school lunch programs, low-income families, the elderly, and individuals facing job disruptions — face great barriers to receiving safe and consistent access to meals.”

SONY ESTABLISHES $100M COVID-19 FUND: Sony Corp. has launched a $100 million fund for coronavirus. Titled the Sony Global Relief Fund for COVID-19, they will target three main areas: healthcare providers, children and educators and creatives who have been affected.  According to Deadline, SPE Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra sent his employees a memo writing: “Our Corporate Social Responsibility team is working closely with Sony Corp to determine the best path forward for distributing funds in the entertainment space. As you have all seen, the need for support during this crisis is unprecedented, and we are exploring several options, looking for ideas — with existing relief organizations, SPE partners, and our own executives internally — to determine what will have the most meaningful impact. We will update everyone as soon as possible on our distribution plans and how employees can participate in the matching gift program.”

KESHA POSTPONES HIGH ROAD TOUR DUE TO COVID-19: Kesha announced that her High Road tour is being postponed due to COVID-19. In a message posted to social media, she apologized to fans and promised to reschedule for later this year. The trek was supposed to kick off April 23rd in Sugar Land, Texas. Kesha advised fans to hold on to their tickets as information on new dates will be announced soon.

LAUV DROPS ACOUSTIC VERSION OF ‘MODERN LONELINESS’ TO BENEFIT CRISIS RELIEF EFFORTS – (04/03/2020)

Lauv has dropped an acoustic version of his single “Modern Loneliness” to help benefit Partners in Health pandemic relief efforts.

“Modern Loneliness” was written as both a statement and a commentary on society and our relationships with social media, where we are increasingly “alone together.” In addition to taking part in live-streams with Global Citizen and Twitch, Lauv also held an at-home live-stream concert on his YouTube channel and raised an additional $12k after matching every dollar that was raised. TAYLOR SWIFT HELPS KEEP SMALL NASHVILLE RECORD STORE AFLOAT DURING CRISIS CLOSURES: Taylor Swift has supplied retailer Grimey’s New & Preloved Music, an independent record store in her hometown of Nashville, with a generous contribution to help out their employees during the shop’s pandemic closure. The owners confirmed that Taylor has gifted the store money for each employee and three months’ worth of health care.
