ED SHEERAN FORCED TO REVEAL HIS CONCERT REVENUES BY A FEDERAL JUDGE: A new judicial order relating to the “Thinking Out Loud” copyright infringement lawsuit is forcing Ed Sheeran to reveal his concert revenue. Multiple plaintiffs are suing Sheeran over his hit song, believing it infringes on Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” written by the late songwriter Ed Townsend. The plaintiffs are demanding to know just how much money Sheeran has earned from performances of the song – including ticket sales and merchandise sold during the shows.

WENDY WILLIAMS APOLOGIZES FOR MOCKING CLEFT PALATE: After being slammed for appearing to mock people with cleft palates, Wendy Williams is apologizing. The daytime talk show host offended fans after appearing to refer to Joaquin Phoenix’s lip but asserting that she finds him “oddly attractive” despite what she said was his cleft palate. Canadian football player Adam Bighill was one of the many who called her out on social media. When he tweeted this about his son: “Today is Beau’s big day. He is getting his lip repaired today in Winnipeg by the fantastic Dr. Ross. Thanks to everyone who has reached out, and in advance, thanks for any of your well wishes for Beau. He is so loved!” Williams responded, tweeting: “I want to apologize to the cleft community and in Beau’s honor, our show is donating to @operationsmile and @AmerCleftPalate and encourage our Wendy Watchers to learn more and help support the cleft community.” He then thanked her and championed her decision.

TAYLOR SWIFT NETFLIX DOCUMENTARY ‘MISS AMERICANA’ GETS RELEASE DATE – (01/16/2020)

Taylor Swift’s Netflix documentary Miss Americana now has a release date: January 31st.

The Lana Wilson-directed film will first premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23rd.

The description of the almost 90-minute feature reads, “In this revealing documentary, Taylor Swift embraces her role as a songwriter and performer – and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.”

On Wednesday, Swift revealed the official movie poster via social media, which features a modest side portrait of her looking down at the spaced-out title font in front of a simple black background.

Swift first announced a documentary was in the works in November while discussing her ongoing feud with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, who own the rights to the singer’s old music masters. She claimed the pair had “declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or [Braun’s label] Big Machine Records anywhere in the film.”

Big Machine Records publicly stated they were not blocking Swift from using her old music in the documentary, nor during her American Music Award performance where she was honored as their Artist of the Decade. Everything worked out for Swift at the ceremony, and Big Machine Records has publicly stated they have cleared the use of her music for the documentary.

‘JAMES BOND’ PRODUCER SAYS ROLE IS MALE-EXCLUSIVE – (01/16/2020)

The internet may want Charlize Theron to play James Bond, but it isn’t going to happen, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson briskly inform Variety.

Daniel Craig is exiting his successful tenure as 007 in the $250 million No Time to Die, his fifth time playing the beloved spy. The film drops in April.

So with Craig out, who’s in? Theron has been floated, as have Idris Elba and Richard Madden. Broccoli and Wilson insist that the search has not begun, but that certain requirements must be met.

Broccoli said: “He can be of any color, but he is male. I believe we should be creating new characters for women — strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”

BILLIE EILISH TO PERFORM THEME SONG FOR NEW JAMES BOND MOVIE – (01/15/2020)

Billie Eilish has been confirmed to perform the theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie, No Time To Die. Eilish, at 18 the youngest artist to ever compose the theme for a 007 adventure, has co-written the song with her brother Finneas, who co-writes and produces all Eilish’s material.

Eilish said in a statement, “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Finneas added, “Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Live And Let Die.’ We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

No Time To Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga described himself as a “huge fan” of Eilish and her brother, adding, “Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I cannot wait for audiences to hear what they’ve brought — a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come.”

The themes for the 24 previous official Bond films have come from a variety of pop artists, ranging from Shirley Bassey to Paul McCartney to Adele. But the franchise has also tapped alternative rock stars like Garbage, the late Chris Cornell, Jack White and even Radiohead — although the filmmakers rejected Radiohead’s theme for 2015’s Spectre in favor of one by Sam Smith.

Cornell, who wrote and performed “You Know My Name” for the 2006 film Casino Royale, told us back then why doing a James Bond theme was personally important to him: [“Because of the connection to being a Beatles fan and being a Paul McCartney fan. You know, I remember hearing that song, ‘Live and Let Die,’ when I was — I must have been nine or 10 years old. If somebody had told that nine or 10-year-old kid, you know, someday on the 21st James Bond film, that’s gonna be your song…that is a super-exciting thing.”]

No Time To Die, which will star Daniel Craig in his fifth and final appearance as the British secret agent, will open in the U.S. on April 10th.

IS JESSICA BIEL STILL MAD AT JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE FOR PDA? – (01/15/2020)

Jessica Biel is not over her husband Justin Timberlake’s PDA scandal with his costar Palmer Alisha Wainwright, according to Us Weekly. As a reminder, photos of Timberlake holding Wainwright’s hand and looking cozy on a balcony in New Orleans emerged, and in the ensuing days as criticism of him on social media reached a fever pitch, he apologized, and blamed alcohol.

But according to insiders, the whole issue drove a wedge of distrust between Biel and Timberlake, with whom she shares a child. Plus, he’s not sticking to his promises on other issues, the source spilled.

“He has been making big promises and not sticking to them as much as she thinks he can and should,” the source said. “He promised that he would be more involved with their family and she doesn’t feel like he’s doing that.”

The Sun, meanwhile, reported on a “fun but tense” date between the pair. Looky loos at the restaurant shared the deets.

“Justin seemed to be intently focused on conversation with Jessica.” He was “extra attentive, rubbing her shoulders and leaning in to her,” and they “ate off each other’s plates as they engaged in conversation.” Buuuuut, “there were a couple of times when it seemed the conversation was a bit tense with both looking deep in thought.”

RIHANNA’S TEAM DENIES THAT SHE MADE SHAGGY AUDITION FOR A SPOT ON HER ALBUM – (01/15/2020)

Rihanna‘s team has reportedly denied Shaggy‘s claims that she required that he audition to be a part of her upcoming reggae inspired album.  Shaggy recently revealed in an interview, “They approached me for the Rihanna project, yeah. There’s a lot of great people involved but for me I didn’t need to audition to be on the record. I’ll leave that to younger guys.” An alleged representative of Rihanna’s called into Jamaica Irie FM Morning Show. They said, “We are working on an album, not a talent show, so why would she (Rihanna) require Shaggy or any other artist to audition?”

The rep added that Shaggy actually reached out to Rihanna and by the time he did, the album was complete. Rihanna’s team responded by asking Shaggy to submit material that he felt would go along with the album’s flow.

The rep explained, “After Rihanna had already gathered all the material for the album, Shaggy contacted her asking to be a part of the album. She explained to him that the album was pretty much completed and they were just working on mixing, mastering and deciding which songs to actually use. However, she invited him to submit some materials so she could see if it fits with the flow of the album. That was by no means asking for an audition, it was more going out of her way to get him on the album.”

The rep added, “We hope Shaggy will come out and let the fans know the real truth because we all know that the media in general and especially entertainment media cannot be trusted. They will twist someone stories in order to get the most viewers.”

No word on when Rihanna’s new album will be released.

‘OSCAR’ NOMINATIONS: THE BIGGEST WINNERS, THE SNUBS, THE CONTROVERSIES – (01/14/2020)

Joker leads the list of Oscar nominations, with 11 nods. Close on the Batman foe’s heels are The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with 10 each.

Joker’s star Joaquin Phoenix earned the Best Actor nod after taking home the award for Best Actor at the Golden Globes. Also like the Golden Globes, the nominees for Best Director were all men, something fans of Greta Gerwig’s did not take kindly to on Twitter

SNUBS

In addition to no women in the Best Director category, observers have been ticking off a list of other glaring oversights, including:

Jennifer Lopez: she was widely predicted to earn a best supporting actress nod for Hustlers, after snagging a SAG Award and Critics’ Choice and Golden Globe nominations.

Lupita Nyong’o: for her roles in Jordan Peele’s Us, where she depicted Adelaide and her doplleganger, Red.

Nicole Kidman: for her portrayal of Gretchen Carlson in Bombshell. Charlize Theron was nominated as lead and so was Margot Robbie for supporting in the same film.

Robert De Niro: the man, they myth, the legend was thought to be a lock for his role in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, but nope. Joe Pesci and Al Pacino got nods for supporting actor in the same film.

Eddie Murphy: many expected him to get a nomination for his widely praised role in Dolemite Is My Name, but he was passed over.

Frozen II: the sequel has earned $1.5 billion at the box office, but didn’t get nominated for Best Animated Film.

Beyonce: the original song “Spirit” for The Lion King soundtrack was overlooked, which means no Beyonce performance at the Oscars

The 92nd Annual Oscars will air live Sunday, February 9th at 8 pm on ABC. Like last year, there will be no host.

MALE PORN STAR HAS A PROPOSITION FOR SHAWN MENDES – (01/13/2020)

Gay porn star Kaleb Stryker is asking Shawn Mendes for permission to play him in a XXX parody video on Men.com.

The popular gay porn studio recently revealed that the 21-year-old singer-songwriter was the most searched name on its website in 2019. “Even though [Mendes] is obviously not featured in any Men videos, our members took it upon themselves to verify that fact by entering his name in the Men.com search bar,” a studio representative explained. “Kaleb was intrigued by the idea of developing and starring in a Shawn Mendes porn parody, guitar and all, truly giving our members what they want!”

“I just found out my look-alike Shawn Mendes is the most popular search on Men.com in 2019, so that means I’m not the only one crushing on him,” says Stryker in a video posted to YouTube. “So, Shawn, what do you say we give the people what they want? If you’re cool with it, I can play you as a role on Men.com, and we can make everyone’s fantasies come true. So what do you think?”

SHAGGY REVEALS WHY HE PASSED ON COLLABORATING WITH RIHANNA – (01/13/2020)

In an interview with Britain’s Daily Star, dancehall legend Shaggy revealed that he was asked to collaborate with Rihanna on her upcoming reggae-inspired album but he turned it down. He explained, “They approached me for the Rihanna project, yeah. There’s a lot of great people involved, but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys.”

He added, “But from what I hear it should be good!”

On RiRi’s venture into dancehall, he said, “It’s a healthy competition. Dancehall is in a good place but we need as many people to do this art form as possible. When it crosses over and becomes popular with artists from other genres and other cultures, that can only be good.”

RiRi told Vogue about the album last year, “I like to look at it as a reggae-inspired or reggae-infused album. It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae.

‘ONCE UPON A TIME’ AND ‘SUCCESSION’ WIN BIG AT ‘2020 CRITICS’ CHOICE AWARDS’ – (01/13/2020)

On Sunday, the biggest stars of film and TV showed up for the 25th Annual Critics’ Choice AwardsTaye Diggs did the hosting duties for the second year in a row, and the show aired live on the CW from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

The biggest shocker of the night was a tie for Best Director between Sam Mendes and Bong Joon Ho, for 1917 and Parasite, respectively. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood won big for film, landing Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt’s work, while Joker snagged Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix’s role and Judy won Best Actress for Renee Zellweger’s work.

Going in, Netflix ruled the show, earning 61 nominations total. On the film side, Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman was the most nominated film of the year, with 14 nods.

On the TV side, When They See Us led, followed by This Is Us and Schitt’s Creek. Fleabag won Best Comedy and Succession won Best Drama, and Best Actor for Jeremy Strong’s role.

There were another two surprise ties for Best Talk Show between The Late Late Show with James Corden &Late Night with Seth Meyers and then for Best Song between “Glasgow (No Place Like Home)” – Wild Rose &  “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” – Rocketman. Last year, as viewers may recall, Lady Gaga and Glenn Closetied for Best Actress.

In addition to the TV and Film accolades, the Critics’ Choice awarded Eddie Murphy with a Lifetime Achievement Award, in honor of his achievements, including starring in multiple $100 million+ films over the past three decades. He is only the third actor to receive the award, after Lauren Bacall and Kevin Costner. Kristen Bell won the See Her Award for her work in empowering women through her work and her roles.

Observers say the nominations of the Critics’ Choice Awards often prove prescient for Oscar nominations: last year, seven out of the eight Oscar nominees in the top category matched those up for the Critics’ Choice prize. Winners diverge a bit more; the two groups picked the same Best Picture six out of the most recent 10 times. Last year, Critics’ Choice went to Roma, but the Oscars went with Green Book. More than 350 members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association voted on prizes, as did members of the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. The Oscar nominations will be revealed today.

MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY STEP BACK FROM ROYAL DUTIES – (01/09/2020)

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are stepping back formally from royal duties … and the royal purse.

The pair shared Wednesday that they will “step back” as senior members of the royal family and “work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty the Queen.”

As anyone not living under a rock will likely recall, 2019 was a wild ride for the Sussexes, with multiple rumors emerging vis-à-vis feuds with Prince William and Kate Middleton and tales of their “difficult” behavior leading to top staff defections. Over the holidays, after launching lawsuits against British tabloids for their coverage, the pair retreated to Canada, where they reportedly deeply enjoyed their time away from the spotlight with baby Archie.

So much so, they are opting to spend more time in North America while also relinquishing their royal titles in order to have maximum freedom … and safety. As Harry said when launching the lawsuits late last year, the tone of the criticism was negative, he is concerned that history would repeat itself. Harry, of course, lost his mother Princess Diana to tabloid photographers chasing her car in London.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” their statement reads.

Here’s what insiders told The Sun as rumors gathered: “It is true that Harry and Meghan will spend a fair amount of time in Canada over the next couple of months and possibly going forward too. Right now they are starting talks with their family about their plans for the future. Those conversations are at a very early stage. There is a very careful and serious process to go through which they are going to respect.”

Looks like this time, the rumors were spot on.

JILLIAN MICHAELS ON LIZZO: ‘IT ISN’T GONNA BE AWESOME IF SHE GETS DIABETES’ – (01/09/2020)

Jillian Michaels is being dragged on social media for recent comments she made about Lizzo. During an interview with Buzzfeed, Michaels was discussing obesity and said, “You cannot glorify obesity. It’s dangerous. It kills people.”

When host Alex Berg said that she loves celebs like Lizzo for “preaching self-acceptance” and allowing the public to celebrate different body types. Michaels said, [“But why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter? That’s what I’m saying. Like why aren’t we celebrating her music? ‘Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes. I’m just being honest. I love her music, my kid loves her music. But there’s never a moment where I’m like, ‘I’m so glad that she’s overweight.’ Like why do I even care? Why is it my job to care about her weight?”]

FANS GO OFF

Of course, Lizzo fans had a lot to say. One person tweeted, “The only reason we know who Jillian Michaels is, is because of a reality show where people used incredibly unhealthy practices in order to lose as much weight as possible, not to become the most physically fit or to get the healthiest vitals – in a dangerously short time.”

Another person tweeted,  “Lizzo spends hours every night singing and playing the flute during intensive dance cardio. Just admit that the only self worth you’ve found for yourself is in your thinness, Jillian, then go to therapy & do the work to love yourself.”

KYLIE JENNER DRAGGED FOR POSTING ABOUT FUR SLIPPERS RIGHT AFTER POST ABOUT FIRES – (01/08/2020)

Followers are wondering if Kylie Jenner is thinking clearly after she posted a story about the tragic death of more than half a billion animals in Australia due to the raging bushfires … then posted a story about her fabulous mink slippers.

Wrote one observer: “i don’t understand how Kylie Jenner can post about the poor animals dying in the Australian fires and then two snaps later post a picture of her wearing real mink fur shoes”.

Another, who shared a pic of the Joker, wrote: “kylie jenner really thought she was doing something when she posted being heart broken about half a billion animals dying in the australia fires and then proceeded to post a picture of her louis vuitton real mink fur slippers”.

The Kardashians and Jenners have been dragged this week for what many see as their non-response to the fires in face of mass suffering and devastation. Kim Kardashian responded to critics saying they had donated, but hadn’t publicized the news.

Khloe also lashed out after commenters dragged her for wearing fur on Halloween and posting about the brushfires. Khloe wrote: “I am wearing a Halloween costume. It’s not real fur. But keep spreading your vile hate instead of focusing on real issues. Why must people assume and attack others so quickly? You have some clear frustrations darling and they are completely misdirected. My advice to you would be, don’t attack people in general. But if you choose to waste your energy on attacking a complete stranger, then at least know all of your information prior. Happy 2020.”

While Jenner hasn’t responded to the criticism, she did change a caption of another recent shot from “find ur fire” to “night out” after getting roasted.

Meanwhile, many other celebs, including Chris Hemsworth, Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban, Rihanna and Pink have donated and have used their platforms to urge their followers to do the same.

MILEY CYRUS TEASES NEW MUSIC; SHOWS OFF NEW HAIRDO – (01/08/2020)

Miley Cyrus showed off a fresh look for 2020 in a series of photos shared on her Instagram while teasing new music.
