ARIANA GRANDE EXPANDS ‘SWEETENER WORLD TOUR’ – (12/11/2018)
Ariana Grande has added extra dates to her upcoming Sweetener world tour due to overwhelming demand. The trek will now include more arena shows in major cities like New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Tickets for the new shows go on sale Friday.
The North American leg of the tour will kick off March 18th in Albany, New York and run through June 26th. Additional international tour dates have yet to be announced.
Normani and hip-hop duo Social House will be supporting acts on the tour.
Meanwhile, Ariana’s video for “thank u, next” broke all kinds of viewing records, and now its success has translated into chart success for the actual song. Thanks to the video, “thank u, next” has returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It racked up 93.8 million streams last week, according to Nielsen Music, the biggest weekly total ever for a track by a female artist. The previous record of 84.5 million was held by Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made me Do.” The only songs that have had more streams in a week are “In My Feelings” and “God’s Plan,” by Drake, and “Harlem Shake” by Baauer. Ariana’s song.s also now the first No. 1 hit by a woman to be on top for four weeks total. The last time that happened was in 2016 with Sia’s “Cheap Thrills,” featuring Sean Paul. “Thank u, next” is the longest-running Hot 100 No. 1 by a woman without any guest artists since Adele’s “Hello,” which started a 10-week run on top in November of 2015.
KATY PERRY TO BECOME A VIDEO GAME CHARACTER IN “FINAL FANTASY” MOBILE GAME – (12/11/2018)
Katy Perry will be featured as multiple playable avatars in the Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius mobile game, starting December 12th for a limited time.
In a new teaser clip, Katy is starting her day and getting ready for a big performance. As she uses her phone to snap selfies and pics of her dog, Nugget, the two start turning into pixelated game characters. The clip ends with Katy, wearing a blue gown, fully becoming part of the game.
The teaser also features Katy’s new anthem for the game, “Immortal Flame.”
Ariana Grande had a Final Fantasy avatar last year, which was dressed as her Dangerous Woman persona with a long blonde ponytail and black bunny ear mask.
Katy was the star of a Sims 3 expansion pack in 2012, and even had her own mobile game, Katy Perry Pop, debut in 2015.
POST MALONE & CROCS DROP SECOND COLLABORATION – (12/11/2018)
Post Malone and Crocs have teamed up for a second collaboration. The 23-year-old entertainer’s Barbed Wire Clog features the brand’s iconic Classic Clog in yellow with barbed wire and six unique Jibbitz charms.
The limited-edition Post Malone X Crocs Barbed Wire Clog style will be available starting today at 2 p.m. [ET] for $59.99 at Crocs.com and at select Crocs retail stores.
Last month, Post debuted another collaboration with Crocs featuring Dimitri Clogs – part of the brand’s “Come As You Are” campaign – which sold out within minutes.
The singer-songwriter also debuted his partnership with Beats by Dr. Dre in a commercial to promote the brand’s new wireless headphones and his single “Sunflower” featuring Swae Lee that will be a part of the upcoming animated film Spiderman: Into the SpiderVerse.
BTS FIRST K-POP ACT TO APPEAR ON BLOOMBERG 50: BTS is the first K-pop group to appear on Bloomberg’s annual list of influential people. The South Korean boy band made the company’s list of the 50 most influential people of 2018, known as the “Bloomberg 50.” Bloomberg noted the success of BTS’ albums Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer, which both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this year. The albums helped BTS expand their fan base worldwide. In addition, Bloomberg said the group’s “willingness to address social issues, mental health and politics” helped contribute to its popularity around the globe. BTS was the only Korean entry to appear on the Bloomberg 50. Taylor Swift was the only other musical act to make the list.
