LIZZO NAMED ‘ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR’ BY ‘TIME’ – (12/12/2019)

Lizzo has just been named Entertainer of the Year by Time magazine. The magazine stated that the 31-year-old singer represents “something new,” adding, “Her sound is relentlessly positive and impossibly catchy . . . In 2019, Lizzo was a beam of light shining through doom and gloom, telling us to love ourselves even if the world doesn’t always love us back. We needed her.”

Lizzo told the magazine, “I’ve been doing positive music for a long-ass time. Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialized thing . . . Suddenly I’m mainstream!”

She added, “Being a black woman is popping, but like right now in mainstream culture, we’re finally getting a little bit more respect and getting our due.”

Lizzo recently nabbed eight first-time Grammy nominations — the most of any artist at the upcoming 2020 Grammys — including Record and Song of the Year for “Truth Hurts” and Album of the Year for Cuz I Love You.

Artist Juice WRLD passed away on Sunday, August 8 resulting from a seizure he suffered at Chicago’s Midway Airport. He had just gotten off of a flight from Los Angeles, and pronounced dead in a hospital following the incident.

BILLBOARD WOMAN OF THE DECADE TAYLOR SWIFT: “I DO WANT MY MUSIC TO LIVE ON” – (12/12/2019)

For the genre-bending music superstar and Billboard’s woman of the decade Taylor Swift, 2019 has been a monumental year, and ending with a fight for her rights to the wildly successful music she recorded under Big Machine Records.

Her latest album, Lover, snagged three Grammy nominations, one for song of the year, and she plans on taking her new music on tour in 2020. “The skies were opening up in my life,” said Swift of the latest music.

As the year comes to a close, however, she is facing the wrath of Scott Borchetta, former head of Big Machine Records, and Scooter Braun, the manager-mogul who eventually acquired the record label and subsequently, the rights to all of Swift’s six previous albums. The star claimed on Tumblr that she was in the “worst case scenario” as Braun had “bullied” her through out his career, and also reveals she was never given the opportunity to buy her masters outright.

The fight for Taylor Swift to have her masters is ongoing, however, and many well-known figures have backed her up, these including Halsey  and even Elizabeth Warren.

In a conversation with Billboard Magazine, the superstar discussed the year of success and new memories, including starring in the new movie Cats and performing on SNL.  She also discussed her use of Tumblr to interact with fans, saying, “Tumblr is the last place on the internet where I feel like I can still make a joke because it feels small, like a neighborhood rather than an entire continent. We can kid around — they literally drag me. It’s fun. That’s a real comfort zone for me.”

Swift revealed a glimpse of her beginnings in country music and transition to pop, and that one of her mentors over the years has been country superstar Faith Hill. “I had so many mentors in country music. Faith Hill was wonderful. She would reach out to me and invite me over and take me on tour, and I knew that I could talk to her. Crossing over to pop is a completely different world,” said Swift.

BILLBOARD WOMAN OF THE YEAR BILLIE EILISH: ‘THERE ISN’T REALLY ANYTHING THAT’S OFF LIMITS’ – (12/12/2019)

Billboard Woman of the Year Billie Eilish gave insight on her family life, desire to meet Rihanna, and the success she enjoyed in 2019 in an interview with Billboard magazineShe’s set to begin an arena world tour in March, at venues that have already sold out. As she says, in response to her nomination for Billboard’s Woman of the Year, “I’ve never been called a woman before,” laughing, “you feel like you’ve been doing it forever. And then I remember — it’s literally just the beginning.”

The star plans to stay in Los Angeles until the end of the year, focusing most recently on issues such as climate change and mental health.

Eilish also addressed her feelings about being a young female artist and other people’s perception of her, stating that she used to be anxious about her future because she was a girl. She then elaborated on a previous statement that she chooses to wear baggy clothes so others won’t comment on her body and trying to make it easier for girls to just wear what they want.

“I’m lucky enough to be in a generation that’s able to break every rule — and that’s crazy,” said the star when asked if she felt that there was anything she can’t do, and continued, “To be honest, there isn’t really anything that’s off-limits.”

KENDALL JENNER NAMES THE ‘WORST PARENT’ OF HER FIVE SIBLINGS: After an interview on “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, Kendall Jenner rated her sibling from best to worst parent, with brother Rob receiving first place, followed by “Khloe, Kim, Kylie, and Kourtney”.

TAYLOR SWIFT PERFORMS NEW HOLIDAY SINGLE ‘CHRISTMAS TREE FARM’ LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME – AND MORE SWIFT NEWS – (12/11/2019)

Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive.

Taylor Swift gave her new holiday song, “Christmas Tree Farm,” its live concert debut Sunday in London, at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball.

Taylor donned a Santa hat and performed in a white romper and boots, as digital snowflakes drifted down the video screens behind her. The video, which features footage of her as a child, also played behind her.

Fans report that Swift’s set list also included “Blank Space,” “ME!” and “London Boy,” as well as “Lover,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “22,” “You Need to Calm Down” and “Shake It Off.”

Meanwhile, Madame Tussauds London has revealed it is putting the first-ever permanent wax figure of Taylor on display starting December 13th, which also happens to be her 30th birthday.

And, Taylor is teasing the imminent release of her upcoming movie Cats by posting a photo of her first day on set. The singer, who plays a cat named Bombalurina, is pictured on a giant-sized set designed to make people seem tiny by comparison, standing by a huge door and stretching up to reach a doorknob. Cats is in theaters December 20th. Taylor received a Golden Globe nomination for “Beautiful Ghosts,” the original song she co-wrote for the movie with Cats creator Andrew Lloyd Webber.

In other news, Swift’s camp ran an ad Tuesday in a Grammy-themed edition of the Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope section. While Swift has three Grammy nominations this year, Republic Records’ ad focuses entirely on Swift’s song of the year nomination: “Vote for ‘Lover,’” the ad implores, “…Because this decade’s most prolific songwriter has never won Grammy’s song of the year.” This is Taylor’s fourth nomination in that category. The 62nd annual Grammy Awards will be presented at Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 26th.

Finally, after YouTube host and podcaster Stefan Molyneux spoke openly about Swift’s fertility now that she is turning 30 years old, Chrissy Teigen fired back hard.

Molyneux wrote, “I can’t believe Taylor Swift is about to turn 30 – she still looks so young! It’s strange to think that 90% of her eggs are already gone – 97% by the time she turns 40 – so I hope she thinks about having kids before it’s too late! She’d be a fun mom. :)”

Teigen, who has previously shared her own fertility struggles, wasted little time firing back at Molyneux. As she bluntly put it, “Uhhhh you’re a f*ckin weird ass.”

JORDYN WOODS TAKES LIE DETECTOR TEST ON ‘RED TABLE TALK’ – (12/11/2019)

When the Tristan Thompson and Jordyn Woods scandal broke out back in February, Woods decided to take a lie detector test on Red Table Talk to prove she was telling the truth about her side of the story. Yesterday (December 10th), during a special “Ask Us Anything” episode of the show, Jada Pinkett-Smith revealed that Woods requested to take the test. She said, “Jordyn did take a lie detector test … it was Jordyn’s request. It was her request to be here, and it was her request to take the lie detector test. We had a forensic polygraphist with more than 25 years of experience in criminal and civil investigations.”

Jordyn revealed what she hoped to gain from taking the test, saying, [“I just want everyone to know that I’m telling the truth. That’s the most important part of the story to me, is the truth.”]

Jordyn took a two hour test and certified polygraphist Shon Thurman said that she passed with “flying colors.” During the test, he asked [“Are you now in the state of California? Jordyn: “Yes” Shon: “Are you currently sitting down?” Jordyn: “Yes.” Shon: “Did you have sex with Tristan Thompson?” Jordyn: “No.”]

Meanwhile, Jada’s mom Adrienne seemingly threw a little shade at The Kardashians for the way they handled the scandal. She said, [“There were a lot of untruths that were put out there and one of them was about the fact that there wasn’t an apology from Jordyn. . .  From the text messages that I saw, that wasn’t necessarily the case. So . . . don’t be editing this out of the show. Cuz that’s important.” Jada: “I taught me a lot.  . .. There’s always more to the story so you gotta be careful how you judge . . . Adrienne: “So while you’re pointing the finger, there’s always three pointing back at you.” Jada: “Ohh. Ok.”]
